    foundation for a better life.
  • 81 of students in United Way programs were more
    successful in school
  • 49,000 young people benefited from our mentoring
    programs
  • 33,000 children learned to say no to drugs
  • 74,000 children flourished in quality child care
    programs
  • Every dollar invested in quality early childhood
    education and care saves 7 later in social
    services.

  • How can our families not only survive, but
    THRIVE?
  • United Way is providing families with
    opportunities for job training, financial
    literacy and mentoring programs
  • In 2007 we helped 741,000 individuals build a
    strong foundation
  • Over 46,000 people received healthcare services
  • Nearly 30,000 learned how to be better parents
  • United Way is there to help families deal with
    the challenges of everyday life.

DO SOMETHING FOR SENIORS
  • What if loneliness was your only companion?
  • Last year, United Way helped more than 78,000
    seniors in our area stay independent with meals,
    transportation, help with daily life and more.
  • Breakthrough programs like Care for Elders, 2-1-1
    Texas/United Way HELPLINE, and United Ways
    Gatekeeper Program assure our seniors have the
    care and resources they need to live
    independently.
  • 84 of Seniors in United Way Programs received
    the help they needed to remain in their own homes.

  • How can you move forward without a helping hand?
  • In 2007, we helped over 600,000 individuals start
    over after violence, natural disasters, job loss
    and family emergencies.
  • 15,000 women and children were sheltered from
    domestic violence
  • 36,000 people received substance abuse treatment
  • 12,000 persons with disabilities received support
  • United Way provides quality services to make sure
    that everyone is given a second chance to rebuild
    their lives.

  • United Way brings together businesses, social
    service agencies, governments, non-profits,
    faith-based organizations and members of the
    community at large to make the biggest difference
    for the most people.

BUILDING CAPACITY
  • United Way has the capacity, experience and

    challenges, like natural disasters.
  • We connect people to services in the Bay Area,
    Fort Bend, Montgomery and Waller counties through
    United Way Service Centers

ENSURIING ACCOUNTABILITY

  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we connect people
    in need with social services through 2-1-1
    Texas/United Way HELPLINE.
  • Last year, we answered over 567,000 calls for
    help.

WHAT YOUR GIFT CAN DO
  • 10 per week (520) Provides 42 school-age
    youths with tobacco prevention education services
  • 20 per week (1,040) Provides 175 household
    members with basic needs (food, clothing and
    shelter) for a week
  • 30 per week (1,560) Provides transportation
    to medical appointments for 41 trips
  • 50 per week (2,600) Provides 11 individuals
    who are battling drug and alcohol addiction with
    counseling and recovery services
  • 100 per week (5,200) Provides 30 youths with
    supervised after-school activities
  • 200 per week (10,400) Provides 5 children
    with 1 year of quality child care to help them
    grow and develop to be successful in school, or
    provides employment services for 43 individuals
