Eudora will automatically re-create all of the
necessary files that were deleted and the New

8Using the Address Book
Step 1 Click New to create a new entry
9Using the Address Book
Step 2 In the right pane next to Nickname,
enter the name of the entry
10Using the Address Book
Step 3 In the right-hand pane, click the cursor
in the large white area under This nickname will
expand to the following addresses. Then type or
paste the email addresses of the people you want
on the Bosses list. The addresses can be
separated by commas or carriage returns.
11Using the Address Book
Optional Step If you want the list of email
addresses to be concealed from the recipients,
click in the Full Name field and type something
in this field . Now when you send something out
to Bosses, all the recipients will see is Coach.
They will not be able to see who else you sent
the email to. Note This only works if you have
more than one email address in the list for this
entry.

the e-mail addresses in the BCC line and leaving
the TO line blank. Your recipients will see
Recipient List Suppressed
13Using Filters
Main Filter screen
14Using Filters
If you check the Manual option you must activate
the filter(s) by clicking Special - Filter
Messages
Beware of using . This option
will also look at any hidden headers that are
shown with the Blah, Blah, Blah option.
15Using Filters
intersects nicknameIf the text string is
included in a nickname, whether it is a full
address or a nickname within the nickname, filter
the message. In other words, the filter looks in
all of your address books for the nickname that
appears in the header of the message. If it finds
it, it filters the message accordingly. doesnt
intersect nicknameIf the text string is not
included in a nickname, whether it is a full
address or a nickname within the nickname, filter
the message. intersects address bookIf the text
string or nickname is included in any one of your
address books, whether it is a full address or a
nickname within the nickname, filter the message.
In other words, the filter looks in all of your
address books for all nicknames. If the nickname
that appears in the header of the message is in
the address book, Eudora filters the message
accordingly. This match criterion is good to use
if you wish all messages that are not from the
entries in your address book to go in other
mailboxes. This is an alternate method to control
SPAM. doesnt intersect address bookIf the text
string or nickname is not included in an address
book, whether it is a full address or a nickname
within the nickname, filter the message.
16Using Filters
matches regexp (case insensitive) - If the
specific item matches the regular expressions
characters with case insensitivity, filter those
messages. Regular Expressions is an advanced and
complex method of searching for text. Regular
Expression is a search string that uses special
characters to match text characters. For example,
if you are filtering messages sent to you by two
people, choose From in the first drop-down
options list, then choose matches regexp. Then
type their usernames between parentheses
separated by a vertical slash, for example
(bobclark)(janedoe)in the text box. Eudora
searches and displays all messages from these two
people. matches regexp - If the specific item
matches the regular expressions characters,
filter those messages. (Version 6.x only) is
greater than - If Junk Score is selected in the
Header field, filter the message if the junk
score is greater than the score you enter in the
following field. is less thanIf Junk Score is
selected in the Header field, filter the message
if the junk score is less than the score you
enter in the following field.
17Using Filters
Regular Expression Wildcards
- . (period) represents any one character.
- (brackets) contain a set of characters
from which a match can be made. It corresponds to
one character in the search string. - \ (backslash) is an escape character which
means that the next character will not have a
special meaning. - (asterisk) is a multiplier. It will match
zero or more of the previous character. (Note
that it's not a wildcard character as in
file names.) - ? (question mark) is a multiplier. It will
match zero or one of the previous character.
(Note that it's not a wildcard character
as in file names.) - (plus) is a multiplier. It will match one
or more of the previous character. - (squiggly brackets) contain a number
which specifies an exact number of the previous
character.
18Using Filters
Regular Expressions Wildcards
- (brackets containing caret and other
characters) means any characters except the
character(s) after the caret symbol
in the brackets. - (caret) is the start of the line.
- (dollar) is the end of the line.
- \
- \ represents the end of a word.
- alpha represents any alphabetic letter.
- digit represents any single-digit
number. - blank represents a space or tab.
- (pipe) is OR. It requires that the joined
expressions have parentheses around them.
19Using Filters
Things to remember when using filters
- Filters execute from the top of the list to the
bottom. - Filter text is case insensitive.
- Attempt to filter on whole words only.
- Avoid the endless loop filters.
20Multiple Accounts On One Machine
You do not need to install a new instance of
Eudora for each user. Multiple users can use one
instance of Eudora with separate data folders.
- Create a new folder (It is best to avoid spaces
in the folder name). - Create a new shortcut from the original
Eudora.exe file. - Right click the new shortcut and select
Properties. - In the TARGET box append the full path of the
folder you created in step one separated by a
space.(If you used spaces in the folder name you
must enclose the entire path in double quotes) - In the START IN box remove everything and type
the full path of the folder you created in step
one. (If you used spaces in the folder name you
must enclose the entire path in double quotes) - You can also create a short cut key to quickly
launch Eudora.
21Setting up Kerberos
Kerberos will automatically install with Eudora
5.2 when launched from PC Amigo. For Kerberos
authentication to function you must add this
information from Tools - Options - Kerberos
22Eudora and Norton Anti-Virus
- When Norton detects a virus from an e-mail
message a warning box will appear. If the message
indicates the virus was quarantined no further
action is necessary. If the quarantine fails
notify your WWS contact.
- On occasion, incoming viruses can infect the
Eudora spool file. When this occurs the mail
download will halt and a Eudora warning message
will appear after the Norton message. To remedy
this
- Close Eudora
- Open the users e-mail account in web mail or Pine
- Delete any messages that do not appear to be
legitimate - Open Eudora and attempt to download mail again
You may need to do this several times until you
find the message with the virus.
23Duplicate Messages
If messages are being downloaded multiple times
from the server open the users Eudora folder and
delete the lmos.dat file from the main folder and
the spool folder (if it exists). Close the
program and open it again.
24Whats New in Version 6.x
SPAMWatch - Introduced in Eudora 6.0, SpamWatch
easily and automatically filters out junk mail.
Now in Eudora 6.1 see how well SpamWatch is
filtering junk mail with SpamWatch
Statistics. WebWords Integrated Google Web
Search from within your Eudora Email
interface. Contextual Filing advanced matching
Select a word within a message, and with one
click, file it in a folder or mailbox of the same
name, or containing that word. Now in version 6.1
has been improved to include advanced matching. A
word or words selected within a message can be
filed with a single click in a folder or mailbox
that contains the same words. IMAP mailbox sync
Eudora 6.1 allows users to specify which IMAP
mailboxes should be synced on mail checks. A menu
item provides a toggle so that users can "Sync on
Mail Check" or not.
