Title: Ab-initio, few-body, lattice, coupled channel

1
Ab-initio, few-body, lattice, coupled channel
  • What is the three-dimensional distribution of
charge, current and spin within the nucleon as
well as within nuclei? This includes parton
    distribution functions (PDFs), form factors
(especially at high-Q2), and generalized partons
    distributions (GPDs).
  • What is the role of heavy flavors, especially
strangeness, in systems composed primarily of
    light quarks?
  • What is the spectrum of excited mesons and
baryons? In particular, what is the spectrum of
    mesons containing explicit glue, including
glueballs and exotic mesons? Where are the
missing baryons''? Are there exotic baryons,
    such as pentaquarks?
  • What role does QCD at its fundamental level of
quarks and gluons play in determining the
structure and properties of atomic nuclei?

2
More questions
  • How does confinement work? What are the roles,
if any, of monopoles, instantons, calorons,
center vortices, or other classical QCD degrees
    of freedom?
  • What are the shapes of hadrons? Do any of them
have deformed intrinsic states like nuclei? If
so, what physics drives the deformation?
  • What is the role of diquarks in hadrons? Can one
measure significant diquark correlations? How do
    diquarks arise from underlying interactions?
  • To what extent can hadron-hadron interactions be
understood directly from QCD? Can scattering
lengths for experimentally known cases be
calculated with sufficient accuracy to make
    experimentally unknown cases credible? What
features of nuclear forces can be gleaned from
the static interactions of heavy-light systems?
