The Setting

• Some of the places the story took place are the
  fountain where Bob the Soc died and the church
  that burned down and almost took Johnny with it.

Ponyboy

• Ponyboy is a 14 old boy who is in a gang called
  the greasers. He faces many challenges including
  losing his best friend Johnny, who dies in the
  hospital at the end of the story. He sometimes
  doesnt think for himself even though he is very
  smart in school. Ponyboy is really a dreamy and
  smart boy who cares about his friends and family.

Johnny-cakes

• Johnny is really known as the gangs lost puppy.
  His parents dont care about him. They would just
  leave him on the street for all they care. He is
  like Ponyboys best friend but Dally loves him
  too. Johnnys life as the gangs lost puppy soon
  ends when he gets burned in the church fire which
  eventually causes him to die.

The Beginning

• Ponyboys parents died in an auto accident so
  now he lives in the custody of his older brother.
  He is in a gang called the Greasers which include
  Johnny-cakes, Dally, Sodapop, Darry, Steve,
  two-bit Matthews,and more. There is a rival gang
  called the Socs which are upper class people.

• The Greasers go to a drive-in movie which cost 25
  cents but the best part is sneaking in with out
  paying. They meet up with a two girls named
  Cherry and Marcia (soc girls). Dally almost
  scares them away but they stayed. They get to
  know the girls when Bob and another soc show up
  trying to take them back. Johnny notices one of
  the guys with the rings because he was jumped by
  him one dark night when he was alone. Johnny
  winds up killing Bob when Bob tries to drown
  Ponyboy in a fountain.

The Middle

• Ponyboy and Johnny run away to a church in the
  country after killing Bob. They got a gun and
  money from Dally before running away to the
  church. Johnny felt that his killing Bob wasnt
  wrong but deep inside he knew it was.

• Johnny and Ponyboy came back from eating with
  Dally when they smell something burning. THE
  CHURCH THE CURCH IS ON FIRE!!!!! They dont
  really think much until they hear a lady saying
  there are some kids inside. Next thing you know
  Johnny and Ponyboy dash into the Church. They
  find the kids and get them all out but one.
  Johnny tells Ponyboy to leave as Johnny goes back
  in to save the last kid. Ponyboy is waiting
  outside. Dally runs into the burning church to
  get the unconscious Johnny out.

The Climax

• The climax of the story was the big rumble. The
  greasers couldnt worry about Johnny (who was in
  the hospital) when they rumbled that night. Even
  Ponyboy fought, although he was sick. He still
  wanted to fight because he felt responsible for
  all that happened between them and the socs and
  because Johnny was dying. The fight started with
  Darry and his former high school football buddy.
  Ponyboy got beat up pretty bad then out of
  nowhere he heard Hey LOOK AT THE SOCS THEY ARE
  RUNNING ! WE WON, WE WON!!!

The End

• Johnny died just as the greasers came through the
  door to see him. He only had a few words to say
  then it just happened just like that. Lifeless.
  After Johnnys death came one more. Dally. He
  died after robbing a store. He tried to run but
  the cops got to him first and just shot him. It
  didnt matter to Dally, though. After Johnny died
  he felt he had nothing to live for so he wanted
  to die.

Our Ending

• The greasers somehow try to find a way to live
  after the deaths of Dally and Johnny. Soon,
  Ponyboy gets married to Cherry and they watch
  sunsets for the rest of their lives. Darry
  married Marcia and had two kids. Sodapop never
  got married because he couldnt choose any girl-
  there were just too many. The rest of the gang
  went and tracked the socs down and killed them
  all.
