13BSNL plans13,00,000 rural phones this year
- Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has fixed a target of
providing 13.3 lach rural telephone connection
in the country during this financial yearThis
was informed by minister of state for
communications Sumitra Mahajan in the Lok Sabha.
Out of this, eight lach connections have been
planned on wire and 5.34 lach on WLL systems.
This would include 47,439 village public
telephones in the villages which do not have any
telecom facility so far. While around 8,000 VPT,s
have been planned on satellite media . BSNL has
sought funds from government for provision of
satellite VPTs - 29 November, The Economics Times, New Delhi
