- 52 of the respondents did not know their
cholesterol level before the screening event - 34 of respondents contacted their doctor about
managing their cholesterol after the event - 57 of the people who contacted their doctor did
so within one month - 36 of the people who contacted their doctor
reported that they were prescribed medication to
manage their cholesterol - 28 paid more attention to prescription drug
advertisements after the screening event - 60 of those surveyed would return at least once
or twice a year for screening 37 even more
often - 80 of the people surveyed agreed that screenings
are a good place to learn about health and health
care products to manage cholesterol - 52 preferred screening events to television,
magazine or other DTC marketing as an information

services for those retailers who are interested
in screening themselves in partnership with
organizations that will train pharmacists - Link education about OTC statins to screening
programs performed in other venues e.g. Employers - Develop health educational resources, with OTC
statin companies, to distribute during counseling
to insure appropriate consumers consider OTC
statin utilization.
