Counselling Services

• The counselling program assists individuals to
  deal with problems in four core areas
• Major life transitions such as separation and
  divorce
• Unexpected distress such as job loss
• Undetected mild to moderate mental health
  concerns, such as depression and anxiety
• Violence and abuse.

Employee Assistance Program
The E.A.P. program offers counselling to
employees and their dependents employed by
organizations that have purchased counselling
services from the Family Counselling Centre.

Creative Coping for Kids
Creative Coping for Kids Is a ten (10) week
group program to assist children who have
witnessed woman abuse. The program addresses the
impact on children who have witnessed their
mother being abused. The group sessions goals
are to focus on support and education for both
children and their mothers.

Changing Direction
Changing Direction Is an educational group
program for partners who are physically, sexually
and/or emotionally abusive towards their
partners. The goal of the group sessions is to
help partners stop the abuse and teach respectful
ways of relating to their partner.

Credit Counselling Helps Stave Off Debt Problems

• DEBT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (DMP)
• Lower Monthly Debt Payments Credit Counselling
  services can reduce the consumers monthly debt
  payments by up to 50.
• Reduce Interest Credit Counselling works with
  the creditors to reduce the interest which means,
  in most cases, consumers become debt within four
  (4) years.
• Get One Convenient Monthly Payment The consumer
  will only have to make one monthly payment to
  Credit Counselling.

• To increase their well-being!

• End Creditor and Collection Agency Harassment
  If the creditors are calling the consumer at home
  or at work, this program will put an end to the
  harassing phone calls.
• Third Party Intervention Problem solving with a
  particular situation or settlement offers.
• Budget Counselling Education and advice on How
  to Manage Funds.

Other services available through Credit
Counselling
TENANT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Province of Ontario
has provided a limited one time grant to
establish a program available to assist
households maintain their housing when faced with
the possibility of eviction because of arrears.
BANKRUPTCY The Family Counselling Centre works in
partnership with Trustees in Bankruptcy to assist
consumers with Bankruptcy and proposal process.
ONTARIO WORKS The Family Counselling Centre acts
as a Trustee for payments of rent to landlords on
behalf of the recipients who are in arrears.

Community Integration Services
Is a community support program committed to
empowering adults with a developmental disability
who are living in the community or preparing to
live in the community. Areas of Assistance may
include Advocacy empowering the individual to
speak and act on his/her own behalf. Case
Management Assisting to organize supports in a
clear and purposeful way. Networking Within
their own community and assisting the individual
in accessing the necessary services. Support
Counselling Assisting with various issues and
challenges as determined by the individual.

Centre York Centre
Monitored Exchange A monitored exchange is when
the child(ren) is/are dropped off by one party
and picked up by the other party. The Centre
provides a place where the child can go from one
parent to the other safely.
Supervised Access Centre
Supervised Visits A supervised visit takes place
at the Centre under the constant supervision of
an access worker.

The following workshops are available averaging
three hours in length. Two facilitators can be
available per workshop. There can be small
groups (25) or larger groups (50) of
participants. There is a cost associated.
