• Since March 06 - NCIR has approved over 140

  been approved

Attracting Investment to Northern Ontario

• NCIR is the Community-focused part of the GO
  North initiative, now part of MNDMs new Trade,
  Investment and Strategic Sectors Unit
• The other part of the GO North initiative, the
  Ministry of International Trade and Investment
  (MITI) aggressively promotes the competitive
  advantages of Northern Ontario to investors
  around the world, drumming up leads.
• Promotion of Northern Ontario has included
  advertising, production of materials and
  familiarization tours
• TISS Unit works with MITI and MNDMs MMD on trade
  and investment events

Attracting Investment through Partnerships

• MITI has engaged two GO North International
  Business Development Consultants (IBDCs), one in
  the US, the other in the UK, to make corporate
  calls to present the opportunities of Northern
  Ontario and to determine potential investment
  leads.
• International markets include

  Japan
• MNDMs Trade, Investment and Strategic Sectors
  Unit has mobilized Strategic Sector Coordinators
  to
• facilitate investment deals,
• working the space between investors and the
  community opportunities
• Works on significant leads to bring investment to
  Ontario
• also tasked with heading up the trade and
  investment events for their sectors with partners
  including ministries, communities and companies
