Title: Preaching with Passion
1Preaching with Passion
- Ministering the Word with Power 14
- Passion is essential to true preaching because
God is a passionate God. (Gen. 66, Exo. 37,
413-14, 345-7, Deu. 424, Eze. 314, Isa. 581
John 212-25 Matt. 935-38, Luke 1941-44
Matt. 2313-39) - The Theology of Apatheia and Pathos
- The emotions of God must be communicated in the
message - People are bored by lack of emotion and passion.
An emotionless movie will not be popular. - Preaching needs to engage peoples mind, will and
emotion. It needs to engage their imagination. - Preaching needs to be like music it needs to be
symphonic. It should have rhythm and reoccurring
themes. It should have crescendos and
decrescendos. It even needs pauses and changes of
tempo. It should accent certain notes. It needs
to unfold a story
