Switzerland has been part of many infamous time
periods. Switzerland, because of the Swiss
Alps, has been a popular transit route to those
at war. It was not until 1848 that Switzerland
became a centralized federal state. During
World War one and Two Switzerland aided Germany
with the funds and army for the Americans.
Because Switzerland heavily taxed the people,
they Started revolting and turning against the
church which led to the spread of Protestantism.
The war had just ended and the peasants
of Switzerland revolted, Protestants and
Catholics fought the two Villmergen wars. Around
the18th century, economic change and prosperity
emerged from the French Occupation. The Helvetic
Republic was ruled by Napoleon. In
1847, Switzerland became modernized and people
emigrated, economy, industry and Agriculture
raised. The Political System was founded and gave
people their Rights and Switzerland from then on
was a feudal system.
3Population
Switzerland has a population of 7.4 million,
while foreigners account for 20 of the resident
population. The average age is increasing, People
are living longer and having fewer children.
The Federal Statistical Office yearly records the
languages being spoken In Switzerland.
Statistics show that 63.7 percent is German, 20.4
is French, 6.5 is Italian, 0.5 is Russian and 9.0
is for other languages. Ludwig Van Beethoven,
the greatest Swiss Composer of his time wrote
the popular Symphonys and Concertos. The most
famous Swiss citizens are Scientists Bertrand
Piccard and British co-pilot Brian Jones who were
the firsts balloonists to navigate the globe.
The famous citizens of Switzerland include John
Calvin and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. John Calvin
transformed Swiss into the center of the
Reformation. Jean-Jacques, the 18th Century man,
wrote astonishing poems and stories.
4Industries and Economy
Switzerland has the highest GPD in all of Europe.
For much of the 10th Century Switzerland had
remained the wealthiest country in Europe. They
manufacture their goods and make their profits
over the European Free Trade Association. Switze
rland economy is filled with highly skilled work
ethics which include Micro-technology, Hi-tech,
Bio-technology and, Pharmaceuticals. Most
people in Switzerland are employed by small and
medium-size enterprises which play a key role for
the Swiss economy. However, the unlimited growth
of the economy is over and the fear of
unemployment is a major concern. The Swiss are
famous for their Rolex watches, cheese, chocolate
and huge banks are the most vastly spreading
enterprises throughout the world.
5Culture
The culture of Switzerland is based on the fact
that it shares borders with different speaking
countries. The culture is diverse and has a
variety of different religions and traditions
that allow the Swiss to stay together. The
Swiss culture has many different types of art,
music, food and dances that have spread
throughout Switzerland from many different parts
of the world. Due to the close relations with
its neighbors, Switzerland has played a key
role to tourists and people who make a living
sharing their cultures. During the times of war
and greed, artists would gather in the streets of
Switzerland and paint pictures, in hope of
making money. The Swiss culture derives from
the German culture, which they both have similar
traditions and have interactive festivals.
6Geography
Switzerland is highly notable for its mountains.
With 183 people per square mile, Switzerland is
very wide. For the most part Switzerland
has normal weather, occasionally it will rain or
snow but almost anytime there will be some
sunshine. The Alps is the largest chain of
mountains in the world and is the most popular
tourist site in Europe. The Swiss Alps is the
most common vacation spot for skiing and their
beautiful resorts. The seasons in Switzerland
are defined and the landscapes are overwhelming.
A recent quote from a tourist stated you can
watch the seasons change right in front of your
eyes!.
