6Behavior Management
I like to catch the students being good. I
dont believe in prizes but the students will
be awarded with good notes, ROAR notes, lunch
with the teacher, shoes off in classroom, etc. I
give the students 2 chances to change their
behavior. On the 3rd time, they will move their
color. Once the color moves, they need to write
how they will correct their behavior in the
Better Choices Book.

- Tuesdays SS/Science
- Wednesday Writing
- Thursdays Math
- Fridays Writing
8We Missed You!
- Your child will come home with a folder that
contains all of the work assigned on the day(s)
they were out. Your child needs to return all
contents (including the folder) within three days.
9Binders
- Each student has a 1st grade binder that will be
used for taking home class work, homework, and
notes from the teacher and office.
10Specials
- Monday Art or Music
- Tuesday PE
- Wednesday Art or Music
- Thursday PE
- Friday (A)Art/PE (B)Music/PE
11Toys
- Toys should not be brought to school. We have
many materials for all children to use. Toys
from home can get lost or broken and cause great
sadness. Toys brought to school may be
confiscated, so, please help keep them at home.
12Birthdays
- If you are having a birthday party for your child
and want to invite children in the class,
invitations can only be passed out if all
children are included. If only a few get
invitations, there is sadness and hurt feelings. -
- Individuals can be invited by mail or phone, but
not through class. Thank you! - You may also send cupcakes or cookies to school
to celebrate your childs birthday. We will eat
these after lunch.
13Clothing
- All 1st graders are encouraged to wear
sneakers/tennis shoes every day. Although we do
not go to P.E. everyday, we do play and run
outside each day. Sandals and slick bottom shoes
can cause injuries. The nurse requested to pack
a change of clothes in the backpack.
14Field Trips
- We plan to take one field trip this year as part
of the first grade curriculum. - In order to participate, your child will need a
signed permission slip which we will send home a
few weeks before the field trip. Please return
those slips promptly so that your child does not
have to stay in another class on the day of the
field trip. - It is a great help to have parents assist on our
field trips. We will ask for volunteers!
15Book Orders
- I will be sending home monthly book orders.
- This is a great way for families to order
inexpensive books. Order forms will be sent home
in the folders. Please return them promptly with
a check for the amount. - (Please no cash.)
