- Standard 1 The KY Tech curriculum is utilized
for the delivery of classroom instruction.
2Standard 1 CurriculumAccountability Alignment
- 705 KAR 4231. General Program Standards for
Secondary Career and Technical Programs. - Section 1.1. Secondary career and technical
education programs shall be designed to serve
students in programs including agriculture,
business, health, industrial education,
marketing, and technology education. - Section 3.3. The content of the instruction
shall be developed to include a coherent sequence
of academic and career and technical courses for
each program. - Section 7. A secondary career and technical
education program shall provide in-depth
exploration, specialized skill development and
preparation for advanced education.

5Standard 1 - Curriculum
- The KY Tech curriculum is aligned with the
curriculum at the Kentucky Community and
Technical College System (KCTCS). - The KY Tech curriculum is defined in high school
credit hours that correspond with the amount of
time spent in the KCTCS course. - Each KY Tech course must be taught in its
entirety and for the duration specified by high
school credit hours for a student to be eligible
for dual credit with KCTCS and for transfer from
one secondary program to another secondary
program in Kentucky. - Curriculum will play a major role in developing
equipment and supply budgets (Standard 16), the
program improvement plan (Standard 16), and the
professional growth plan (Standard 15). - Courses offered will dictate ONet certificate
opportunities for students.

- When absolutely necessary to use titles like
Carpentry I, Carpentry II, and Carpentry III,
identify KY Tech courses in Carpentry I, II, and
III. For example - Carpentry I may include Introduction to Carpentry
and Lab (CAR 126 and 127), Construction Prints
(BRX 220), Industrial Safety (ISX 100), and Floor
and Wall Framing and Lab (CAR 190 and 191). (3
high school credits) - Carpentry II may include Site Layout and
Foundations and Lab (CAR 140 and 141), Ceiling
and Roof Framing and Lab (CAR 196 and 197),
Workplace Principles (WPP 200), and Fundamentals
of Math (MTH 100). (3 high school credits) - Carpentry III may include Construction Forms and
Lab (CAR 150 and 151), Exterior and Interior
Finishing and Lab (CAR 200 and 201), Intro to
Computers (CIS 100), and Personal Finance (BA
120) OR Coop III (CAR 199 and 299). (3 high
school credits)

Schedule
- A.
- Develop daily/weekly/monthly lesson schedules.
- Use a monthly/weekly calendar, lesson planner
calendar, form included in sample documentation,
or other appropriate forms. - Include daily lesson plans for at least the week
of a team visit. - Identify KY Tech course titles and task numbers,
reference to KCTCS course numbers, brief
explanation of objective, core content, KOSSA
covered and other information needed to conduct
the lesson. - B.
- Expand the lesson schedule to include 30
instructional days up to the day of the team
visit.

- Develop a master schedule that lists KY
Tech/KCTCS courses with course numbers taught
each year. - Align master schedule with the career pathway in
Standard 5A, syllabi in Standard 1D and
curriculum. - Provide two-year schedule when more than one year
of course work is required to receive all
certificates offered to students. - All courses required for a certificate,
regardless of who is teaching the course, should
be included on the master schedule. For example,
technical math may be taught as Algebra I at the
high school industrial safety may be taught by a
teacher in another program. - Note The certificates are identified on the
career pathway in Standard 5A.

- Develop a syllabus for EACH KY Tech course
taughtnot just one for the program. Consult with
the postsecondary program partner to align all
syllabi. - Include name and description of the course,
teachers name, text and other course materials,
objectives and/or task list, grading criteria,
and reference to KCTCS course(s). Other items
that may be included are course alignment with
core content, skill standards and SCANS, academic
expectations, procedures for makeup work, class
rules and other pertinent information.

- Develop daily lesson schedules.
- Using KY Tech Curriculum, identify ONet
certificates to offer. - Using identified courses for ONet certificates,
prepare a master schedule. - Standard 5A requires a career pathway through the
bachelors degree. Consult with the postsecondary
program partner in developing the postsecondary
component. - Develop a syllabus for at least one KY Tech
course consult with the postsecondary program
partner to align syllabi. - Note The master schedule, syllabi and career
pathway should align.

12General Program Assessment Guidelines
- All documentation should be dated and reflect the
current evaluation period. - Documentation for all standards should be
included in the program documentation not in
the principals, counselors or advisors
offices. - When a lengthy document is presented, mark the
page(s) specific to the assessed program. - Two dated samples should be provided for such
items as writing pieces, open response, student
safety tests, and student evaluations of the
course.

- All documentation must relate to the program to
receive credit for the standard. - Identify the program teacher and/or student(s) in
the documentation. - The program website provides detailed
instructions and examples for all standards. - Items marked with an asterisk () do not require
documentation.

- Include only documents that are relevant to the
standard. - Purge all documents outside the assessment
period. - Read the instructions below the standard in the
17-stanard document. - Refer to the program assessment website for
detailed instructions, resources and examples for
all standards.

- When the program at one location has multiple
teachers, prepare only one set of documentation
for the program. Programs housed at satellite
locations are considered separate programs. The
documentation of the following standards is
required for all teachers - 01 Lesson schedule, master schedule and syllabi
- 02 Portfolios, open response, integration
lesson and unit plan - 04A Student recognition in the classroom/lab
- 07 Inclusion of all rooms
- 08 Inclusion of all rooms, safety tests and
signatures of policies - 11B Parental involvement
- 13 Teacher industry certifications
- 15 Professional growth records and professional
