2BROADBAND / HD INNOVATION LAB Briefing
Project proposals should be for
cross-platform media products, applications or
services intended for entertainment, documentary,
educational, hospitality or health markets,
audiences or users. They should be capable of
being implemented within one to three years.
We are specifically interested in proposals
which make use of broadband and HD across
convergent platforms such as internet, tv, and
mobile, and different communications technologies
such as fibre, cable, satellite and wireless.
3BROADBAND / HD INNOVATION LAB Aim
- Focus on generation development of innovative
cross-platform applications for optimum use of
the Dutch broadband infrastructure - Special interest in effective development and use
of HD - Sponsors sought to commission further development
of high potential projects - Provide a new, re-usable process and methodology
for innovation
4BROADBAND / HD INNOVATION LAB Participants
- Research communities, knowledge institutes and
media companies - Applications from individual organisations or
consortia - Teams Intellectual Property consortia should
reach internal agreement before Lab - Each team consists of 3 members
- No specific skills profile but practical skills
required for prototype build
5 BROADBAND / HD INNOVATION LABProcess
- Briefing is announced at launching event
- Organisations / consortia develop project idea
- On-line form is provided for applications
- Additional preparatory workshops are offered
- Final day is set for application submission
- Participants are selected, informed and briefed
- Intensive one week lab with teams, mentors, and
specialists - Jury selects winning team/s
- Commissions awarded
- Results disseminated
6BROADBAND / HD INNOVATION LAB Format of Final
Innovation Lab Workshop
- Five day residential workshop
- Lodging, food, technical facilities etc. all
provided - Selected teams of 3 members are invited
- Creative, technical and business mentors
experts - Individual group work, collaboration with peers
mentors - Work towards 10 minute pitch to selected jury on
final day - Commissioning targeted for most innovative
projects with highest potential
