Policy and Procedure (pages 4-6)
  • District policy and procedure is based on
    Washington State law
  • The law must be followed when school staff take
    any responsibility for a students oral
    medication
  • Must be trained and supervised by a registered
    nurse
  • All requirements must be met to administer
    medication at school

Field Trips-General (page 16)
  • Personnel who are trained in the administration
    of medication must accompany students that need
    medications given on a field trip.
  • Nurse needs 72 hours notice to set up a training
  • Office staff will prepare medications for the
    trip
  • (this is the exception to never prepare meds
    ahead)
  • Medications will be kept secure at all times
  • The student that self carries is responsible for
    their own medications
