3Policy and Procedure (pages 4-6)
- District policy and procedure is based on
Washington State law - The law must be followed when school staff take
any responsibility for a students oral
medication - Must be trained and supervised by a registered
nurse - All requirements must be met to administer
medication at school

meds - The student must be able to self administer

- Any student may lose the right to carry
medication if they are not using it responsibly.
19Field Trips-General (page 16)
- Personnel who are trained in the administration
of medication must accompany students that need
medications given on a field trip. - Nurse needs 72 hours notice to set up a training
- Office staff will prepare medications for the
trip - (this is the exception to never prepare meds
ahead) - Medications will be kept secure at all times
- The student that self carries is responsible for
their own medications - Contact nurse with questions/concerns

the students lunchtime.
