What is the Butler County Youth Council?
  • The Butler County Youth Council (BCYC) is a
group of area students with representation from
all four high schools in Butler County
  • The Council serves as a liaison between all
Butler County youth and adults in the community
  • The Council works to identify issues that affect
youth in the community and then strategizes on
how to best affect change by contacting adult
    leaders
  • Basically, the Council can serve as a voice for
    all youth in Butler County

5
BCYC Meetings
  • Members of the Council meet monthly during the
school year bi-monthly during the summer
  • During these meetings, the Council meets with
adult leaders to learn about their roles in the
community to discuss any youth issues that
those community members may have influence upon
  • Council members also gain leadership skills
    through hands-on experience and training

6
What projects have the Council been involved in?
  • Collected survey data to be used in a community
    grant application for street improvement
  • The Councils main project in the last school
year, however, was spearheading introduction of a
