  • A nation grows in cruel bondage

Exodus
  • The word means going out away.
  • The story of Israel going out of Egypt.
  • 400 years pass between the close of Genesis and
    the beginning of Exodus (Genesis 1513).
  • New Egyptian rulers have forgotten Joseph and
    his good works (18).
  • They make the Israelites their slaves.
  • Israels numbers were increasing at an alarming
    rate.

  • Pharaoh ordered the killing of all male infants
    born to the Israelite women.
  • The midwives feared God (115-22).
  • One childs mother placed her son in the river,
    and Pharaohs daughter found him (23-6).
  • The mother became his nurse and raised him for
    Pharaohs daughter.
  • The child was Moses (27-10).

  • At the age of 40, while avenging one of the
    Hebrews, Moses killed an Egyptian (211-15).
  • He fled to Midian where he tended sheep
    (216-25).
  • He saw a bush that burnedbut was not consumed
