Title: THE BASEBALL LEGAND
1THE BASEBALL LEGAND
By Will
2A long time ago lived a baseball legend by the
name of Joe Marshal. He was a great baseball
player. Joe was born in Charlotte, North
Carolina.
3Joe was a pretty good size for a baby. By the
time he had turned three, he could talk. He had a
older brother name John. John was 6 going on 7.
He also had a mom and a dad. His moms name was
Mary and his dads name was Sam.
4By the time he had turned five going on six he
started kindergarten at Charlotte Elem. There he
would learn to become a smarter person. He
thought his teachers were the coolest in the
world. Joe was a pretty smart kid. He always
made all Ss. That school year past by fast
and now he was in first grade.
5For Joe first grade was not that much harder. You
could tell by his grades, he always made S's
on his report card and made all 100s on every
paper.
6So one day his mom went inside his school to talk
with the principal about moving him up a grade.
So they thought that was a good idea..So he
moved up to 2nd grade and felt much better there.
7But his last years at Charlotte Elem. went by
fast. Now Joe was in Charlotte Jr. High. When Joe
was in Jr. High he played sports. He played as
many sports as he had time for. He played
baseball , basketball , and football.
8Joe loved to play sports. In fact he played all
the way through High School. After he finished
High School he decided to go to College. With
such good grades he decided to go to Baylor
College in Waco, Tx.
9By then Joe had a favorite sport. It was baseball
, but he also still played football. He still
played basketball , but he didnt have time to
play all three. So in his spare time he and some
of his friends would play a game or two.
10That year as a freshman went by fast just like
High School , probably because it was so much
fun.Joe missed his family a lot, so every chance
he got to fly back home he did.
11Joes baseball season just ended and football
season began. So every day after school Joe went
to football practice. Then it came time for
their first game against Old Miss. Joe
played quarterback. He loved to play quarterback.
That game he threw two touchdown passes. That
game they won , Baylor 42 , Old Miss 35.
12That season they went 55. After football season
was over Joe went home for Christmas. That
Christmas went by fast and it was already time
for baseball season.
13Then Joe got drafted to the Alanta Braves. When
he retried in 1963 he was inducted to the Hall of
Fame. Then he died in 1983 of a heart attack.
