  • Return papers in a timely fashion
  • Help your child stay organized
  • Rest

NO child will be compared to another student in
my classroom. However, I will demand each
students personal best.

  • (A note will be sent home when a child receives a
    conduct mark)

Attendance
  • See pages 24- 26- Code of Conduct
  • Excused Absences
  • Only 5 parent notes per semester, after that, ALL
    absences will require a doctors note to be
    considered EXCUSED.
  • Excused must be turned in within 2 days of
    returning to school.

Attendance (Continued)
  • See pages 24- 26- Code of Conduct
  • Unexcused Absences
  • After 2 unexcused absences, parents will be
    notified and future absences will be reported to
    a county social worker.
  • Students who are chronically tardy will be
    referred to the principal. The principal will
    use discretion on handling the issue.

  • Assigned Monday- Thursday
  • Keep in Take Home folder.
  • Missed homework
  • Homework is graded!!!

Progress Reports
  • Take Home Folders
  • Sign and Return papers
  • Mid- term Progress Reports
  • All of the above should be signed and
  • returned the next school day!

Report Cards
  • Sent home every nine weeks
  • Please keep the Report Card. Sign the envelope
    and return it the next school day!

Grading Policy
Language Arts Grades Reading 70 English
20 Spelling 10
  • A 90- 100
  • B 80- 89
  • C 73- 79
  • D 70- 72
  • F 69 or below

Reading
  • Reading Series- Test every Friday, Study sheet
    will be given ?
  • AR Goal is 12 points
  • Principals Goal is 17 points
  • Please read with your child DAILY!
  • AR is graded in two ways
  • of points and average AR test score

Spelling
  • List given out each Monday and Test will be on
    Friday.
  • Pre-test given on Thursday
  • Homework
  • Monday ABC order
  • Tuesday Sentences 1-10
  • WednesdaySentences 11-20
  • Thursday3 times each
  • (missed words only)

Math
  • Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and
    Division, plus MANY more!
  • Students should already know basic addition and
    subtraction facts
  • Timed test daily- Fridays will be for a grade.
  • Flashcards work WONDERFULLY!
  • Switching classes for math.

Science and Social Studies
  • Social Studies- focus is on historical Americans
    and government
  • Science- magnets, heat, rocks, plus more!
  • Not taught at the same time.
  • Please help your child study for these tests by
    calling chapter concepts on the study guide.

Testing
  • No ITBS in 3rd grade!!!!
  • CRCT will be in the Spring.
  • ALL third graders MUST pass the reading portion
    of the CRCT to be promoted to 4th grade.

Dress Code
  • See pages 8- 9- Code of Conduct and
  • Brookwood Handbook
  • No backless shoes
  • Shorts/ skirts should be fingertip length or
    longer
  • No tank tops, spaghetti straps, or halter tops
  • No torn or ripped clothing

Clubs and Organizations
  • See page 28- Code of Conduct
  • If you wish that your child NOT participate in
    any of the listed clubs and/or organizations,
    please complete the bottom portion of this page
    and turn in to me.

Parent Communication
  • Please check the Communication Folder DAILY.
  • Please place ANYTHING that you need me to see in
    the orange Communication Folder.
  • Please keep me informed of any changes that may
    occur in your childs life that could affect
    his/her behavior and/or grades at school.
  • Lets work together!

Tid- Bits
  • Lunch is _at_ 1030- Please send a snack for your
    child to be eaten during recess.
  • Water bottles ARE allowed. Please NO SCREW ON
    LIDS. SIPPY LIDS ONLY!
  • We will meet at least once this year.
  • Family is important!
