2What is TartanTRAK?
- A job and internship portal
- A searchable database of jobs, internships,
summer employment and on-campus employment
- A database of interview schedules, resume books
and employer presentations
- A place to Maintain your personal profile,
resume and other job search documents

- The entire time you are enrolled
- As a recent graduate
5What to Use as a Recent Alumnus
- Policy
- As a new graduate, you can participate in all the
functions of TartanTRAK up to 12 months
post-graduation
- After 12 months, contact your Career Consultant
and s/he can assist you with gaining access to
alumni career resources

7Logging In and Establishing Your Profile
- Access through the Career Center website.
- Direct URL http//www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/car
eer/tartantrak
- You need to register only ONCE. After doing so,
you may update your registration information at
any time from the main menu
- Enter your TartanTRAK username and password. This
information was sent to you via e-mail from the
TartanTRAK system.
- If you have difficulty with your password,
contact Gerry Marnell at 268-1646 or
recruit_at_andrew.cmu.edu for assistance
8Setting Up Your Profile
- Some fields are pre-populated for you making this
task easier! Fill out the form as completely as
possible. (this helps employers find you if you
have checked the box to let employers search your
resume) - You must fill out mandatory fields (written in
red and marked with an asterisk)
- To make multiple selections from any menu list,
hold down CTRL key or Command key on a MAC as you
click.

the home page. This will also be the start page
each time you login thereafter.

This is where you can view relevant information

page and to Career Quick Tips
Upload resumes, cover letters, transcripts,
portfolio pages and other documents and generally
manage your documents in TartanTRAK.
Click on the Y/N to choose your default resume

- Name your document and select the file to upload
- Give each document a descriptive and distinct name
Remember to use internal buttons to navigate the
system with ease!

- Acceptable formats to be uploaded are MS Word,
Adobe PDF, and RTF.
- You MUST always click the "Y" option next to the
name of document that you want to remain as your
Default resume.
- PLEASE DO NOT DELETE A RESUME IF IT IS YOUR ONLY
ONE IN THE SYSTEM. PLEASE ADD ANOTHER RESUME
FIRST, THEN DELETE YOUR RESUME OUT. IF YOU WOULD
JUST LIKE TO EDIT YOUR RESUME, CLICK EDIT, THEN
UPLOAD THE NEW VERSION
19Resumes and Documents
- Caveat with renaming and deleting resume
- If you make a change to a resume that has been
submitted for multiple positions, the change will
effect all the resumes already submitted as long
as you are before the submission deadline. After
the submission deadline has passed you cannot
make changes. - Note This is dangerous as you could then have
the wrong objective on the other resumes.
- Better Solution upload a different resume. You
can have unlimited versions of your resume stored
in TartanTRAK.
- Use the Job Application / Activity History page
to change resumes submitted to individual
companies so long as the submission deadline has
not passed.

career fairs (future) and other events the Career
Center hosts or manages.

Pittsburgh area. Most openings are for short
term or part time employment.
Job Searching
View all will show both job postings and on
campus interviews!
The "Interviews only" links in the will show job
opportunities with employers who are COMING TO
CAMPUS to interview students through the on
campus recruiting program.
"Job postings Only" list opportunities for which
an employer will NOT be interviewing on campus.
If a student applies for these positions, the
employer will contact applicants directly to
arrange an interview.

This action does not guarantee an interview with
this organization, but it will forward all
applicants' documents to the recruiter for
review. - If you are selected or declined for an interview,
you will receive an automatic email after the
Employer Pre-select Deadline.
- Pay attention to the timeline for these actions
in the posting. If you are selected for an
interview, the email you receive will link you to
that recruiter's schedule to sign up for a time
slot.

- When you sign up for an event, an RSVP list of
names is created and made available to the
relevant Career Center administrators and company
recruiters. - When you have reviewed on campus interview
opportunities, you may apply for an interview by
clicking on the hyperlinks provided and
submitting your resume and cover letter before
the resume submission deadline. - If you must cancel your attendance please do so
at least 48 business hours in advance, as
outlined in the Career Center Student Code of
Conduct.

- Once you have submitted resumes, employers will
review and then pre-select who they would like to
interview.
- Do not rely solely on your e-mail account to keep
up to date on your status.
- Come often to TartanTRAK and check your
Pre-select/Alternate and Interview Status.
41FAQ
- If I just upload my resume, will employers see it
without me doing anything else?
- No. You MUST Check the Allow Employers to
search my default resume box in your profile or
on the Resumes and Documents section for it to be
searchable by an employer. - If I am pre-selected for an interview, will the
employer email me to let me know?
- Yes. The system automatically generates an email
to you. However, you should also check your
Pre-select / Alternate, and Interview status to
see if pre-selected.

- If I miss a resume submission to an employer,
what can I do?
- Before the event date you may still submit your
resume to the employer as a standby.
- You can also email the employer contact and
attach your resume.
- Or contact Gerry Marnell at recruit_at_andrew.cmu.ed
u.
- Note submitting your resume as a standby is
also an alternative if you have not met the basic
requirements of the employer and are not allowed
to submit regularly.
