• Our children deserve the best people to teach
  them. Most PGDE students, having already
  displayed competence in their first degree, are
  older and wiser than their BEd counterparts and
  now know that they want  to teach children. This
  gives them the impetus to overcome the time and
  content challenges of a one year degree course.

Report of the Review Group on PE (2004)

• The extension and expansion of PE curriculum
  will necessitate greater diversity, background
  and range of experiences required by PE
  specialists.
• For example, appropriately qualified and
  experienced individuals from sport and exercise
  science, coaching, health and physical activity
  could, with appropriate ITT, become valuable
  members of the PE profession.
