Title: Creating a Networkogram
1Creating a Network-o-gram
- A tool to support network development and
programme-wide learning
2What is a network-o-gram?
- A network-o-gram is a reflective and
developmental tool which will enable you to - identify the structures and processes within your
network - consider how these structures support the work of
the network - consider communication within and across the
network - consider how to involve more staff in network
activities - Data from this activity will support both
programme, and system-wide learning and
development
3Creating a network-o-gram diagram
- Draw a diagram of your network
- identify all the key groups which take your
network forward - how are the groups structured and connected?
- consider where the engine is, which drives your
network

9Questions to consider
- Reach and Impact who is involved?
- Communication and Connections - how and when do
the groups communicate and connect with each
other? - Roles and Responsibilities what is the core
function of each group? - Moving Forward and Sustaining Momentum - where is
the engine that drives your network forward?
10What networks are saying
our spider web of connectivity
At the moment, weve got a small group of people
who are totally buzzing
If we face reality, its J and me who are the
passion and the force at the moment. Therefore it
is vital that structures are transformed in the
long-term
its us who are the driving force
the structures and ways of working now have
grown and developed
the facilitation with the whole network is
vitalits involving others so its part of the
process, heads learning, staff learning, pupils
learning, everybody learning together
...the network will go in all sorts of
directions in time, this will be a major
leadership and management issue
we are open to evolution
11The process
- Try drawing the diagram and completing the chart
for your network (30 mins) - Share and discuss your network-o-gram diagram
and/or chart with a colleague from another
network. Use the questions to consider sheet to
support your discussion. (10 mins) - Work with a colleague to complete the Learning
for Action sheet (15 mins)
12Learning on behalf of the programme, and the
wider system
- Please hand in your network-o-gram diagram and
chart so that we can photocopy these and return
them to you before the end of the day this data
will support programme level and system-wide
learning - Please hand in the bottom copy of your Learning
for Action sheet before you leave the session
