introduction
You wake up in the morning you dont eat your
breakfast because youre worried. Its your
first day of your new school. Your mum says you
have to eat so you do, you eat half a piece of
toast with jam on it. You get dressed in your new
school uniform is very uncomfortable. Your shoes
feel too small and your t-shirt is very itchy.
Now you are ready for your new school. You are
yelling and screaming saying you dont want to go
but your mum makes you. She is in the car tooting
the horn calling, Hurry up youre going to be
late for your new school. Youre running to the
car and forget your school bag. Finally you get
to school. Your mum gives you a piece of paper
to tell you where your classroom is your mum
couldn't come in because she was in a two minute
park.

Quietly sitting on the mat

• You and your new buddy are sitting quietly on the
  mat, you hear silly noises in the background.
  You ignore the silly noises and listened to the
  teachers instructions because you have an
  activity to do. You walk quietly off the mat and
  start your activity, your new buddy was a bit
  paranoid about some of the silliness from one
  group. You carry on with your activity being
  good.
• The teacher clapped and told us that there was 5
  more minutes until morning tea time.
• Bring, bring goes the bell. You and your new
  buddy come to the mat and sit up nicely, the
  teacher lets you go first. You are very happy
  about the morning so far.
• You get your morning tea and find you have two
  decisions to make

You are bored and decide to climb on the roof
You ask people if you can play with them

You read the piece of paper, it directs you to
Room 6. Your mum also gave you some lunch money
to get a pie for lunch. You walk towards your
class people start saying hello to you and asking
you if you need help to find your classroom.
You say yes. You see people lining up to get
some lunch. So you wait in line, there is a big
kid in front of you, he asks if you want to go in
front of him. You say Yes please, thank you
very much. You finally get to your classroom
just as the bell goes, everybody is talking. You
decide you have two choices

Talk at the back of the mat

Climbing on the roof

• The playground looks boring, you decide to climb
  onto the roof. It would be hard.
• You see Mr Marty using a steel ladder, when he is
  on the roof you quickly grab the ladder.
• Next you put it against the office window. You
  climb up the ladder onto the roof. All the
  children are watching you the windows. You
  realize everyone is staring at you.
• Next you hear a smashing noise. You look to see
  if the ladder is there but it is not there. You
  realize you smashed the window.
• You forgot you had 10 strong spit balls. You
  fired the spit balls at Mr Marty because he wont
  stop staring at you. He falls off the roof and
  lands on his feet.

THE FIGHT

• You walk out of the class room you spot your
  mates having a fight under a tree over soccer
  teams. You go over to them and get involved.
  They start to punch and kick and say bad words.
  People start to bleed and one starts to get a
  bleeding nose. Another person came over to see
  what is going on. They try and stop the fight but
  then they get involved. Now it is a really big
  fight.
• A duty teacher sees it and comes over. He looks
  disappointed, he tells you off and puts you in
  time out .
• Maybe you will have a better day tomorrow.

Talking on the mat

• You sit at the back of the mat talking with some
  bad kids. They start to shout and then you shout
  with them.
• You watch the teacher come in and you sit
  quietly. The teacher starts to talk to the class
  Why were some of you shouting on the mat?
• You grab a straw and tissue out of your pocket.
  You spit, spit balls towards the teacher and then
  run out the door and wait for 10 minutes.
• You slink back into the class, the teacher asks
  you to sit in the corner of the classroom.

Teacher Tells You Off

• You get told off for talking on the mat. A
  message is sent to the Principal.
• Ten minutes later the principal comes in and
  takes you to his office. You sit in a corner by
  yourself for an hour, then he comes in and tells
  you, you will have to miss morning tea and lunch
  because of your behaviour for the rest of the
  week.
• You will have to return to the start and use
  better Cotswold Values.

You ask people to play with you
You find a group of kids playing a game of tag.
You ask the biggest kid if you can play. Yes
was his answer. Youre the slowest in the group
so youre in for most of the time. You got tagged
when you fell over and the tagger helped you up
and then tagged you. You asked someone who had a
watch on what the time was. It had only been 10
minutes. Soon you get bored of tag. You ask the
biggest If you can play soccer. The answer was
yes. The littlest goes to his class to collect a
soccer ball. When he gets back, the bell ring. On
your friends watch, only half the time had gone.
Your friend looks at the watch and says its
running out of battery. When that happens, it
only goes at half speed. I'm going back to
class. You watch them go.

Fall Off The Roof
You begin to wonder how you will get off the
roof, for a moment you feel like the king of the
world even though you know you are going to get
told off.Suddenly your feet slip on the gutter.
You feel yourself falling through the air and
hear the children screaming. An extreme and
sudden burst of pain rockets through your legs.
It is not until you wake up in the hospital that
you realise you have two broken legs.

Quiet Reading
You are quietly reading in the library corner the
teacher comes in she tells everyone to sit on the
mat. When everyone is on the mat the teacher
tells you will be doing a statistics activity in
groups. There will be four people in each group.
You love statistics, this is the greatest day at
school in your life. You are put into a group.
The children quickly organise what jobs they are
going to do. They ask you to join in. Do you

Wander around the school
You decide to wander around the school. You see
your black and white cat and you start to chase
it. The cat ran through a metal bar fence, dive
to catch the cat but you are to chubby to fit
through the metal bars and whack your hollow
head. Classes 1, 2, 3, 14, 13, were watching you
closely their teachers call 111 for ambulance and
unfortunately the cleaners as well you are so
embarrassed and you start to scream . The office
calls your mum to comfort you. Some students
follow because they feel sorry for you. You
recover in a few weeks time and in that time you
get an operation then go back and make a big
amount of friends.

Use a loud voice
You start to yell and scream at the teacher
because you dont like your group. You dont like
your group because all of the people in your
group are being mean to you by doing all the work
for you. The teacher settles you down by changing
your group. You feel happier now that you are in
a better group. You have been asked to find words
that have something to do with caring about
others. Then when it is your turn to speak you
scream your ideas, the teacher gets mad at you
for yelling again. She sends you to another class
to have some quiet time. Maybe you should try
better next time.

Sharing and Turn taking
The teacher puts you into a group. Your group
work together, sharing the equipment and
collecting information. The activity is
statistics, you and your group complete a bar
graph about your favourite sports. You collect 9
pieces of information each and join these
together. The teacher tells your group you are
doing well. Suddenly the lunch bell goes. You go
into the cloak room and get your, lunch box
heading off to the lunch area. You see two
groups you could join for lunch

New Friends
After the lunch bell rang you dropped your
sandwich on the floor, you went to pick it up but
somebody tripped over on your arm. You go to help
him up and then the bell rang to play, you decide
to play soccer with him so you went to the big
field. In the middle of the game you trip him
over by accident. He gets a penalty you tried to
save it, but he scored. You go over and say nice
goal. The next minute you score a goal. You are
so happy. You think he is very good at soccer
winning 4 1. You play with him for the whole
lunch time. The bell rings you realise he was in
your class. You go over to him and tell him that
you really enjoyed playing with him. You head
back to the classroom. As you approach the door
a strange felling comes over you, do you dare to
go back in or do you end the day?

Run Away
You go into the classroom silent not a single
person is there. Your teacher comes in with a
worry look on her face because she forgot to tell
you that they are in the hall watching a DVD. You
panic because you do not know where they are. You
see a big steel hammer for Emergencies only! You
grab it and smash open the nearest window and
jump out. The teacher looks up her face is pure
pale like a worried ghost. She starts to run
after you. You keep on running until you get home
but she spots you by the door. She says this is a
bad start to your school then she tells you they
are in the hall watching a DVD and will take you
there. Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day.

Sit on the Mat
You go into your class, you sit at the front of
the mat. A boy next to you says, always try to
sit at the front. He asks you if you want to be
his friend. You say, Yeah sure. You go to the
toilet but it was the wrong toilet, you quickly
realise and go into the correct toilet. As you
come back into the classroom you walk into a
shelf. The shelf falls down on to you. Everyone
starts to come and see what the noise is and if
you are alright. The teacher lifts the shelf of
you and makes sure you are ok. You join everyone
else on the mat and listen to the instructions
for painting.

Hometime
You want to speak to the teacher. You put down
your paint brush down on your newspaper and go
and ask if you can have some more green paint for
your green parrot. She comes and gives you some
more green paint ,in another half hour you have
finished you raise your hand and she thinks its
beautiful. You drop the bucket of paint brushes
you were holding and a person called Sam rushes
up to help you. Suddenly you have to sit on the
mat, everybody wants to sit by you ,the teacher
is very proud of you because you are finished all
of your work. When you have sorted out where
everyone's sitting suddenly , ring ring you hear
the hometime bell.

HOMETIME
The teacher says good afternoon class. You
reply good afternoon. You make your way out
to the cloak room, you grab your bag and head out
to the front gate. Children in your class wave
and call out that they will see you tomorrow.
Your mum comes and takes you out for an ice cream
sundae to celebrate your first day. Congratulatio
ns you have had an awesome first day at Cotswold
School.
