Attractions Vicksburg National Military Park

• Vicksburg was the site of one of the most
  important battles of the Civil War. In the words
  of President Abraham Lincoln, Vicksburg is the
  key! Located high on the bluffs overlooking the
  Mississippi River, Vicksburg guarded the main
  supply line for the Confederacy. The fall of
  Vicksburg to Union forces after a three-month
  siege marked a turning point in the war. Visit

• Mississippi is home to the Delta Blues, a form of
  music that shaped both popular and folk music in
  America. Rock roll, hip-hop and jazz have all
  been influenced by the songs, stories, melodies
  and rhythms of Mississippi blues musicians. 2003
  has been declared the Year of the Bluesby the
  U.S. Senate, and you can celebrate by attending
  one of the many blues festivals held in
