Not all sources are created equal Internet
sources

• who posted the information?
• Is it signed?
• Is the site designed to promote a particular
  political perspective, and if so, whose?
• When citing a web site, include the title of
  the document if available, the name of the
  organization that posted the information, the
  URL, and the date you accessed the site
• Example Washington Kurdish Institute,
  http//www.kurd.org, accessed 28 September 2004.

Scholarly articles

• Hard copies or on on-line data bases (JSTOR)
• Published in academic journals
• Original pieces of research that are fully
  referenced with FOOTNOTES, endnotes, or insert
  parentheses
• Do NOT include periodicals such as Time magazine,
  The Economist, Newsweek, etc.

Time NOT a scholarly journal

Scholarly books

• Original research, fully referenced (like
  scholarly articles)
• You should generally use books that date from the
  last 10-12 years
• Different than memoirs, journalistic accounts,
  etc.
• Visit the library to get them ?

Primary sources

• Sources produced by people involved in the actual
  event
• Diaries, memoirs, government documents, letters,
  Blogs, some news accounts from that time, etc.
