  • Performance Values

La Mont offers industrial boilers for steam, hot
water and thermal oil as per the following range
of operation. Range of operation until now

  • Technical Principle
  • The pressurised body is made of a stable
    retangularly arranged frame-work out of
    downcomers, headers and tube walls, which are
    welded together with the tube walls to a
    gas-tight tube cage.
  • Due to the unique arrangement of mixture tubes
    (4), steam back-flow tubes (5), overflow tubes
    (6) and unheated downcomers and return tubes (2,
    7, 8) a pre-separation of steam before the steam
    drum can be achieved. This results to a excellent
    load change behaviour as well as a high steam
    purity.
  • This tube cage is self-supported by downcomers in
    the corners of the boiler (2,7)

  • Technical Principle
  • A heavy supporting frames where other boilers
    systems have to be hung in is unnecessary. Hence,
    complicated connections between boiler and cold
    frame do not exist.
  • La Mont boilers are set up in the way that they
    can expand from the ground level to all
    directions.
  • The compact tube system will be manufactured in
    the workshop under good conditions and sharp
    quality surveillance.
  • La Mont boilers can be cut longitudinally or
    cross wise into several stable pieces for the
    transport.
  • The pieces are fit together in the workshop,
    transported to the site and welded together with
    a few field welds and without expensive fitting
    works.

The Eckrohr design for the particular application
can be chosen from a boiler type catalogue, which
includes various fuels and combustion systems.
All boiler design all specialities concerning the
fuel will be considered For biomass combustion
ERK offers a water-cooled inclined grate as a
self-contained combustion system.

  • Quick start-up
  • At start-up the water circulation starts very
    quickly because there are neither long overflow
    distances nor long distances from downcomer to
    heating surface on water side. Due to the short
    distances all water filled tubes reach saturation
    temperature very quickly at start-up. Dangerous
    material stress caused by different thermal
    expansion will not occur.
  • There is no lower drum. It has not to take care
    of thermal stress in this drum. The lower drum
    can not get crooked during start-up.
  • A low number of tubes are connected to the drum
    compared to other boiler types. The drum shell is
    only weakened to a low extent. At same strength
    the drum shell can be thinner than other boiler
    drums.
  • The admissible temperature variation gradient is
    significantly higher leading to a quick start-up.
    The shell thickness is constant over the whole
    circumference. The deformation of the drum is
    less.

  • Quick start-up
  • The downcomers have a big diameter. Steam bubbles
    forming at pressure fluctuations and high load
    change velocities can not endanger the water
    circulation.
  • Low pressure variations at load changes.
  • Quick load variations are possible without
    significant changes of steam pressure.
  • Also the water level in the drum keeps calm
    compared to other boiler designs.
  • A low number of tubes are connected to the drum
    compared to other boiler types. The drum shell is
    only weakened to a low extent. At same strength
    the drum shell can be thinner than other boiler
    drums.

  • Self-supporting construction
  • The thermal expansion is from bottom to top. This
    is an advantage with grate firing because the
    thermal expansion difference between grate and
    boiler is minimised. The sealing between grate
    and boiler is easier.
  • High steam purity.
  • In the steam overflow system a pre-separation of
    water and steam takes place. The steam dryness is
    very high. High steam purity can be achieved also
    with poor feed water quality.

  • Good fit to space requirements
  • By the system of downcomers the heating surfaces
    are not only fed from the drum. The heating
    surfaces can be arranged in a distance from the
    drum. Large boilers as usual in refuse
    incineration plants can be simply made.
  • Compact types were developed for several fuels.
    The required space is small and in a lot of cases
    the transport from workshop to erection site in
    one piece is possible.
  • Eckrohr boilers can be fabricated in segments in
    the workshop. On site only little welding is
    necessary leading to short erection times and
    high quality.

  • Water circulation

The water circulation in Eckrohr boilers has some
specific characteristics compared to other
natural circulation boilers. Also in Eckrohr
boilers riser tubes (4) are heated. The
water-steam mixture flows upwards through the
riser tubes. In contrast to other systems a
pre-separation of steam outside the drum takes
place. In the upper mixture tube (3) steam is
already separated from water and a part of the
water flows through unheated return tubes (1) to
the header (2). The separated steam flows through
the overflow tube (5) to the steam space of the
drum (6). The remaining mixture runs through
mixture tube (3) into the drum. The final
separation of water and steam takes place in the
drum, the water flows through the downcomers (7)
to the headers (2). Due to the return tubes (1)
the flow distance of water is shortened and the
water circulation is improved.

  • Fuels
  • Eckrohr boilers can be fired with a broad range
    of fuels. On one hand traditional fuels like
    coal, wood, natural gas and oil are used. On the
    other hand the fuels range from industrial and
    municipal waste, paper and biomass to hazardous
    waste like chlorinated or sulphur containing
    hydrocarbons. Also fuel mixtures are in
    operation, e.g.
