  • As a result of globalization, the role and
    function of cities has been continuously on the
    rise.
  • Taipei is a major medium connecting Taiwan with
    the international community.
  • The promotion of city diplomacy is an essential
    element of Taipei City.

  • The policy aims at promoting Taipeis
    international participation, elevating its
    international status and advancing the interest
    of the city and its people.
  • In order to become a world-class capital, Taipei
    City must build and advance meaningful and
    substantive cultural, technological, economic,
    and trade exchange between major cities around
    the world.

International Affairs Commission
  • Taipei City Government has set up an
    International Affairs Commission to step up
    efforts at creating a more cosmopolitan
    environment.
  • It pushes for the internationalization of the
    city by strengthening ties with major cities
    through a variety of exchange programs in the
    areas of sports, culture, trade and technology.

  • Sister City relations between Taipei and other
    cities around the world have laid a solid and
    successful foundation for promoting cooperation
    and exchange.
  • Taipei has set up 45 Sister City Agreements.

    activities, such as the Dragon Boat Race held by
    Taipei City.
