  • Wilson's School, Wallington, Surrey
  • 5-6 in the process of presenting their
    application
  • Sponsorship to support the programme in active
    talks.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation and Support Guidance
    for Officer support being written
  • The programme is a highlighted case study in the
    new High Quality school to Club Links DfES /DCMS
    National Document
  • Innovation Award date for entries is July 2006
  • Annual open day to be at the NBC in November
    each year.

Affiliation -
  • Target numbers for December 2005 50 affiliated
    members
  • To date 84 schools have affiliated, and 54
    School Sports Partnerships a total of 138.
  • 3 mail outs have been sent, the final package is
    set for May, with a reminder for the following
    year and benefits package in July.
  • Huge opportunity to convey National information,
    an extra tool for communication.
  • Next steps must be to work as closely as we can
    with the County Badminton Associations the
    programme is intended to compliment and support
    local activity.
  • Counties will receive 8 per affiliation in March
  • All Affiliated schools are eligible to apply for
    Academy School status.
  • All new resources have been priced to offer
    attractive reductions in cost to Affiliated
    Schools and Partnerships and further reductions
    for academy schools.

Competition Managers a National Initiative to
support competition from school through to elite
play.
  • Badminton now entering the 7th month of the
    Competition Managers being in post.
  • Focus of work to provide a schools competition
    framework which will lead into County activity
    and beyond.
  • 20 Competition Managers appointed in September
    2005, 50 more to be announced shortly, with a
    further 90 by the end of 2006, giving full SSP
    coverage by 2007/8
  • 5 County Sports Partnerships and 20 School Sports
    Partnerships involved in this initial pilot W
    Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Hampshire, Sussex
    and Cornwall.
  • Thus far all 20 managers have selected Badminton
    to be among their chosen starting sports.
  • RDMs and BDOs are instrumental in supporting this
    work.
  • Meeting on 22/23rd March to consider the
    Framework in terms of Inclusion
  • All activities/resources are in place but
    awaiting final response from the pilot to present
    more professionally.

PESSCL
  • A Key Target for BADMINTON England
  • Badminton considered to be achieving excellent
    progress.
  • Target for School Club Links and number of Junior
    Participants has been greatly exceeded, and we
    are now on the last effort to realise the target
    number of 60 clubs by the end of March 2006.
  • Badminton has been asked now been asked twice to
    present at national PESSCL meetings with regard
    to reporting, resources and best practice in
    working with partners/school and club links.
  • DfES and DCMS attended the Academy schools launch
    a really successful day with DfES and DCMS
    Officers very impressed with the high quality
    delivery and provision, both of the day and the
    programme.
  • BDOs and RDMs working hard to support PESSCL
    progress again we must look to communicate
    work together with the County Associations and
    CSPs.
