Counting Physical Activity Calories
  • The F.I.T. Formula for Calorie Counting suggests
    expending a minimum of 200 calories per daythis
    would amount to 1000-1400 calories per week (5-7
    days)
  • For optimal benefits to health and wellness
    (target zone), 2000-3500 calories should be
    expended in activities from the Physical Activity
    Pyramid each week
  • (Look at the list on page 231 for a list of
    calories expended during physical activities)

  • Pedometer small battery-powered device that can
    be worn on your belt
  • Counts each step you take and displays the count
    on its screen
  • Individual Goal should be about 10,000 steps per
    day to be in the target zone for lifestyle
    physical activity
