Searching Tips for the Catalogue
  • Boolean Searches
  • and homosexuality and religion both concepts
    must be present in the results
  • or anorexia or bulimia if either concept is
    present the item will be included in the results
  • Phrase Searches
  • date rape (use single quotes if you want words
    to be side-by-side)

  • Keyword searching looks for words anywhere
  • Browse searching looks for the word at the
    beginning of the title, subject etc.
  • If you know youre searching for a periodical,
    select periodical title from the drop down menu

  • Leave off words like a, an, the at the beginning
    of titles or names
  • Limit your searches by Library if you want to
    know whats physically at the U of A
  • Limit by format if you want to find only books,
    only videos etc.
