2 Police Officer Applicants must be
U.S. Citizen Excellent health Weight
proportionate to height Vision 20/20 (corrected

3Police Officer requirements
High school graduate or valid GED certificate
(30 college credits) recognized by the State of
Florida or 3 years military experience, or 3
years prior police experience
4- Police Officer Requirements
- Have no disqualifying deformities or injuries
- Have used no illegal drugs in the past 12
months - Have never committed, been involved in or
convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor - Be of good character and reputation and have a
stable work record and possess a current - State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification

- An additional 5 pay raise is awarded to
Officers who qualify to become Master Police
Officers.

- Overtime Pay

- Time and one half is paid for work in excess
of 42 hours per week. -
- A minimum of 2 hours overtime is paid when the
employee is required for court appearance while
off duty. -
- When required to work on holidays the overtime
rate is two and one half times the basic rate of
pay.
7- Salary Incentives
-
- 30.00 per month for an AA degree, and up to
130 per month for a Bachelors degree combined
with other education and training.
8- Equipment
- All uniforms and equipment are furnished,
including Sig Sauer 45 caliber firearms, body
armor, footwear, duty belt, and Motorola MTS 2000
portable radios.
Quartermasters Section
9- Dry Cleaning and Clothing Allowance

- Dry cleaning services are provided for uniforms
and duty clothing worn by other sworn members,
such as Detectives. - A clothing allowance is provided for those
officers required to wear civilian apparel for
their duty assignment. -
10- Drive Home Cars
-
- Lakeland Police Officers residing in the city
limits have drive home cars, and use of their
cars for personal errands within the city. - Officers residing Lakeland Electric and Water
service area are provided with drive home cars.
11- Lakeland Patrol Cars are Equipped
- With prisoner transport cages
- Locking shotgun rack
- Laptop computers for report writing, computer
aided dispatch, and computerized records
research. - Cars are currently being equipped with in car
video recording equipment.
12- Additional Benefits Include
- 10 paid holidays per year
- Annual leave starting at 12 days for the 1st
year to 5th year. 15 days for 5 -15 years of
service, and 20 days for over 15 years of
