- Infrared light is emitted from luminescent diode.

- Diagnostic Screen
- IR Light from the probe generates energy peaks
from individual layers of film. The peaks are
the separate surfaces (top surface, interior
surfaces/interfaces, bottom surface) that make up
the film. - The distance between peaks represents thickness
the red marker lines aid in identifying the
middle of the curves. - On the screen below, there are five surfaces (red
lines) that comprise four separate layers of
material.
