PROGRAMME OF NUTRITIONAL SUPORT TO PRIMARY
EDUCATION (MID DAY MEALS PROGRAMME) IN THE U.T.
OF DADRA AND NAGAR HAVELI DISTRICT.
- AIM
- The National Programme of Nutritional Support
to Primary education popularly known as Mid Day
Meals Programme is intended to give boost to
universalisation of Primary Education by
increasing enrolment retention and attendance and
simultaneously impacting on nutrition of student
in primary classes. Under the said scheme, the
students in I-Vth standards are provided hot
cooked prepared meals containing 450 calories and
12 gram of proteins each day of school for
minimum 200 days as per direction of Honble
Supreme Court. Recently the Govt. of India
Ministry extended the National Programme of Mid
Day Meal Scheme from Std.VI to VII and they are
provided cooked meals containing 700 Calories and
20 gram of protein every day.

9FOOD GRAINS (RICE)
- Under the MDM programme, Govt. of India is
allotting food grains (Rice) free of cost
through Food Corporation of India in ten academic
months at the quantum of 100 gram rice per day
per child from Std. I to V and from Std. VI VII
quantum of 150 gram rice per day per child.
10PREPARING OF HOT COOKED MEALS
- The hot cooked meals is prepared by engaging
Helpers and Cooks on payment of half day Daily
Wages rates with every schools provided with
two gas cylinders of 19 kgs with gas chullahs and
necessary cooking equipments also. The students
are provided cooked meals in the plates glasses
for drinking water issued by the department.
