  • What might we expect audience members to know
    about SchoolPLUS?
  • How can we forward the journey of SchoolPLUS?
  • What do we need to be mindful of as we proceed?

9
Conditions for successful interest and engagement
in the vision of SchoolPLUS
  • Clarity about the SchoolPLUS vision
  • Reinforcement of the principles
  • The context of communities
  • Examples of successful projects
  • Raised awareness of the benefits

10
Examples of Successful Projects
  • Focus on authentic collaboration between partners
  • Wide variety of contexts
  • Wide variety of topics
  • Create opportunities for communities to connect
examples to their own context by developing
    reflective questions
  • Pay attention to the conditions that led to the
    initiation of the project

11
Process
  • Committee members offered suggestions based on
    projects they knew of
  • Ian contacted those involved to see if they would
be willing to share their stories
  • Interviews occurred
  • Ian developed the stories, created reflective
    questions, and journey beginnings

12
Process
  • Stories were brought back to the committee for
    feedback
  • Committee members helped to determine which
stories should be included and how they should be
    shaped

13
Format
  • Background to SchoolPLUS
  • Creating Authentic Partnerships
  • Questions for reflection
  • Ten stories from schools in Davidson, Kindersley,
Saskatoon, La Loche, North Battleford, La Ronge,
DSF, Prince Albert, and one story of
    collaboration at the university level

14
Creating Authentic Partnerships
  • This document can be used in a number
  • of ways to engage staff, students, and
  • community members in a dialogue
  • around SchoolPLUS. Individual stories
  • and the accompanying reflections might
  • be used as a portion of a staff or
  • community level meeting. With more
  • time, reading stories and sharing
  • understandings may prove to be a rich
  • experience. These stories are provided to
  • spur some creative dialogue in regard to
  • new initiatives and partnerships within
  • your community, while also celebrating
  • existing relationships.

15
Reflective Questions
  • What opportunities have we created to build
    relationships within our community?
  • Who might be involved in the life of our school?
  • What are the strategies we might use so that
agencies within our community better inform one
another of the work they are doing?
  • How might our school engage other partners in
working together to create and sustain a positive
    learning environment for students?

16
Looking at one story
  • Please take a moment to read the story from
    Churchill Community High School in
  • La Ronge.
  • Turn to the person next to you and discuss the
    reflection questions.
  • Share a point from your discussion with the large
    group.

17
The Journey Continues
  • How do we move the journey of SchoolPLUS forward?
  • How can we raise awareness of these projects?
  • How can we support others in their SchoolPLUS
    journeys?
