5Cost Recovery
- Course designator codes C2, C5, and C6 designate
e-learning courses that use BCCs e-learning
course management system (Blackboard) . - The C2 and C6 courses carry a fee for e-learning
related support services. - All C2 and C6 courses should be scheduled and
coded BEFORE the schedule is sent to print. Ask
faculty to tell you which sections will use BCCs
e-learning course management system to support
fully online (C2) and blended e-learning (C6) so
their sections can be coded properly. - Campus Associate Deans have agreed that courses
carrying fees (Online/C2 Blended/C6) cannot be
coded after the schedule is created. Make sure
that your faculty know that they will not be able
to use BCCs e-learning course management system
for online or blended courses unless the courses
were scheduled with the proper e-learning code
and the proper e-learning fee prior to the
schedule being sent to print. - Under NO circumstances should C2 or C6 codes or
e-learning fees be added to a course after
students have registered for the course. - Web Enhanced (C5) credit courses do not require
an e-learning fee.
6Fee Codes for Fully Online (C2) Courses

course when the course is scheduled. This should

9First Class Meeting For E-Learning and Flexible
Learning Courses
- Some faculty require on-campus orientation
meetings for their fully on-line courses. These
meetings must be scheduled during the first week
of the session that the course is assigned. - Permits students to add/drop courses if
necessary. - Courses with first meetings after add/drop can
make it difficult for students to change their
schedule or obtain refunds. - Initial orientation meeting for fully-online and
blended e-learning courses should be scheduled to
meet in a computer lab. - Computer labs for orientation must be booked at
the time you schedule the course. - Include the location of orientation meeting in
the course notes. - If attendance at orientation is required, the
course notes should say so, and indicate the
penalty (if any) for not attending.
10CID Scheduling General Guidelines
- Please do not use TBAs for instructor name or
day of week when schedule is sent to printer.
Failing to indicate the day of the week creates a
course with no starting date (as far as CID is
concerned). Under these circumstances, CID
permits students to continue registering for the
course even after the add/drop date for the
semester has passed. - If a course does not have regular meetings each
week, use multiple lines to indicate specific
meeting dates, times, and locations. If you use
the first schedule line only, the room you
indicate will be blocked for the entire semester,
rather than just the times that it will be
actually be used. CID will allow you to enter up
to 20 class meeting dates. - If you use multiple lines on the CID course entry
screen to assign rooms for on-campus meeting
dates, please make sure that the building, room
and time on the first line are listed as TBA.
The Building, room, and time on following lines
MUST be filled in. Otherwise, a conflict results
in course information not being accurately
reported to the State. - If you have questions about how to schedule a
course that does not have regular meetings,
contact your campus room scheduler for additional
instructions.
11CID Scheduling Examples
- Course meets regularly, but only on one day per
week (Example Blended e-learning courses) - Put an explanation in the notes stating that the
course meets once each week. Show the meeting
day on the first schedule line along with time
and location. Additional lines should not be
needed unless there are additional meetings held
on other days of the week. Each additional
meeting on a day other than the regular meeting
day should be indicated on a separate line. -
This class meets every Tues beginning 3/12/07
through 5/3/07
12CID Scheduling Examples
- Course meets on campus for orientation only
(Example Fully online courses) - Put an explanation in the notes that the only
on-campus meeting is for orientation. Show the
day of the orientation meeting on the first
schedule line with TBAs for time and location.
On the second line, show the day, location and
time of the orientation meeting. This way, CID
will only book the meeting room on the one day
that it will be used. Additional lines should not
be needed unless there are additional meetings
held on other days of the week. Tip F8 to obtain
additional lines - Course does not meet on campus at all (Example
Fully online courses) - Put an explanation in the notes that there are no
on campus meetings. On the first schedule line,
show the day the semester begins with TBAs for
time and location. This way, CID will not book a
meeting room for this section.
Notice the begin and end date is for one face to
face meeting.
Be sure to TBA time location on the first line.
12
13CID Scheduling Examples
- Course meets multiple times on different dates
different times (Example Video courses) - Show the day(s) of the campus meetings in the
first schedule line, with TBAs for time and
location. On the following lines, show the day,
location, time and date of each meeting on a
separate line. F8 for additional lines.
This class meets face to face four times 8/24,
9/21, 10/19 12/7/06
14CID Course Comments

additional course information. - Provide students with a heads up regarding
location and requirements for first course
meeting, if there is one.

April 18, 2008. - Important! Notify Flexible/e-Learning Department
of any alternate delivery course changes,
additions or new classes that occur after the
schedule goes to print. Flexible Learning must be
notified before the new course info is entered
into CID and before an E-learning code (C2 or C6)
is added to an existing course so proper fees can
be charged. Fees cannot be placed on a course
once students have begun to register for it. - You may wish to make the course unavailable or
closed until the fees can be put on the course
that way no students will be able to register
until after the unavailable or closed designation
