  • Candidates with particular requirements The QCA
    Code of Practice requires awarding bodies to
    consider the needs of all candidates, including
    those with particular requirements, when
    preparing assessment tasks, question papers and
    mark schemes. Candidates may have particular
    requirements for a number of reasons, including
  • permanent or long-term disability or medical
    condition
  • temporary or short-term disability or medical
    condition
  • illness, indisposition or unforeseen incident at
    the time of assessment
  • first language other than English, Welsh or Irish
    (Gaelige).

  • Criteria for Acceptance into the Institute at
    Different Levels

Member Grades
Membership grades
Overview The Institute offers a range of
membership grades, corresponding with different
levels of qualifications and experience.
Individuals achieving the grades of Fellow,
Member or Associate are entitled to vote in
Institute elections and can use designatory
letters after their name (eg MIEA for Members).
Affiliate Affiliate Membership is open to anyone
with an interest in assessment, regardless of
qualifications and experience.More about
Affiliate Membership
Full Member (MIEA) Full Membership is for more
advanced assessors, able to demonstrate at least
three years' educational assessment

Fellowship (FIEA) Fellowship is available to the
most experienced and expert practitioners in
