General Information

• Americans are seen as ignorant people
• Ignorance is an excuse, but it is no shield(
  Hertsgaard 80)
• Americans do not think about Americanization
• Lack of media coverage in the United States
• Thesis Americans would benefit if the media
  told them how people in other countries feel
  about issues like Americanization, global warming
  and Americas arrogance.

Lack of Media Coverage

• Americans do not interact on a daily basis with
  foreigners
• Foreigners must adjust to us, we assume, not we
  to them (Hertsgaard 112)
• Americans claim not enough time to learn another
  language
• Example In The Eagles Shadow, the Texan and the
  Ferris Wheel
• Focused more on celebrities than our foreign
  policies

• Destroying cultures (Ex. Japan)
• America seems so much better at riding this
  tiger and resentment because Americanization-globa
  lization so often feels like the United States
  whipping everyone else to speed up, Web up,
  downsize, standardize (Friedman 136-137)
• Influencing teenagers in other countries
