4Affiliate Country Programme
- Aimed at all newly-industrializing countries
around the world. - Form of participation in the IEC without the
financial burden of actual membership, making
full use of all IT tools to reduce costs of
participation to virtually zero. - Two principal aims
- To encourage greater awareness and use of IEC
international standards in newly-industrializing
countries and - To help newly-industrializing countries
understand and participate in the work of the
IEC. - The IEC Affiliate Country Forum - Goals
- to act as the collective voice for all Affiliates
to IEC - to identify issues in the work of the IEC
relevant to newly industrializing countries - to seek a common position for Affiliates and
communicate this position to the relevant
technical or management committees and - to develop a virtual network centred on a
dedicated web site, specifically designed to
cater to the needs of Affiliates.

- To achieve its mission IEC has only five
resources - - NCs Through its National Committee members,
- Agreements Via cooperative agreements with other
organizations, - Staff Directly by IEC Officers and Central
Office Staff, - Supporters Through companies and other
organization that are supporters of the IEC

Standards and Conformity Assessment operations of
IEC

- The IEC CANENA Agreement speaks of CANENA
activities in support of IEC - IEC Officers and CO are willing to help, support
CANENA and its members actively promoting the IEC
in the Americas - e.g., IEC is ready to (help) put on seminars or
workshops in the Americas Region, in cooperation
with CANENA - IEC is willing help CANENA in working with the
IEC NCs in the region
