Where Do We Go From Here?
  • But it is not all bad news!
  • The EPICS Collaborative Community is alive and
well and we will still develop/contribute/support/
    evolve/enhance the EPICS toolkit.
  • Much evidence at this meeting
  • As discussed at the December meeting, there are
some clear benefits to promoting better
    communication/collaboration of these efforts
  • A plan was proposed
  • and no one voted no
  • The two-page plan

5
Divide Conquer
  • Define four categories of efforts/topics
  • iocCore (and Channel Access)
  • Core Tools/Extensions
  • Collaboration Support Issues
  • Ideas and RD for EPICS 5.0 and beyond

6
How can we build momentum?
  • For each of the four categories, identify
  • A category lead the person(s) responsible for
knowing what is going on or making something
    happen
  • This person is also responsible for ensuring that
all effort is kept collaborative, i.e. ideas,
    designs, implementations, etc are sufficiently
exposed for comments and ltappropriategt reviews
  • i.e. responsible for keeping the community
    informed
  • A category team a collection of people that
are committed to contributing both ideas and
    effort
  • Web pages that clearly describe the activities
(Current plans, future plans, wild ideas, current
    status) occurring in that category.
  • At each collaboration meeting
  • Each category lead reports on current
    activities (peer pressure)
  • What have you done for me lately?

One last thing
  • Reports from the category leads at each
    Collaboration Meeting
  • Dear Steve (hunt_at_psi.ch),
  • We really missed hearing about the current work
and future plans for EPICS RD activities. I will
be checking your website regularly to stay
attuned to all the neat things you will be
    reporting on and initiating.
  • We have 3 FTEs available now at our facility to
assist you. Please contact us as soon as possible
to let us know how we can help.
  • Sincerely,
  • ltyour namegt
