Title: Diagonal pass to the top of the circle
1Diagonal pass to the top of the circle
A stop is made low down with the hand
and stick
A short square pass is made
The ball is dribbled into the area
They could move quicker to intercept
the second pass
One of the players should cover the
shooter/dribbler
The goalkeeper should move out to
narrow the angle
2Width in attack
The players spreading out across the area
to create space for play in the middle
Depth in attack
The players spreading out the length of
the area to create passing options
3Basketball
Fast agile players
Man to man defence
We were able to stay close to the
attackers and pressurise them into making
mistakes
Badminton
Poor backhand
I served to opponents backhand and
played clears to their backhand
My opponent was unable to return
the shuttle over the net so I won more points
4They started in a triangular formation
On the jump step they go in opposite
direction
The final action is performed one after
the other
The left arm could be higher in the starting
position
The foot could be extended in the one foot balance
The step/skip forward should be faster
5You can perform the skill immediately
without hesitation
You can concentrate on other factors when
performing the skill
Concentration
6Table tennis
Backhand return
My partner served 50 times to my backhand and
I had to return more than 40 to a marked area
of the table
Volleyball
Set to the outside spiker
My classmate fed lots of balls to me from a
variety of places on the court and I had to set
them all to the outside spiker
I broke up the table tennis return into 5 sets of
10 and aimed to get 7 cross court returns
successfully each set
7Overhead shot across court to the middle
Forehand drive to the middle of the court
Forehand diagonal lob to the back of the court
He could serve harder and deeper
away from his opponent
He could move quicker to the net to
play the ball earlier
The backhand volley could be harder
8Cartilage
Protects the bone and reduces friction
Ligament
Keeps the joint stable and controls the
amount of movement
Muscle
Contracts and relaxes to produce movement
9Netball
Rebound jump
Knee
From a bent position the legs are straightened
to allow the player to jump into the air
Quadriceps contract pulling on tendon which is
connected to the lower leg bone. The bone
then moves to straighten the leg
10The opposite arm from leg
goes forward
The same number of steps
are taken each time
Stay in the middle of the lane
Keep the same lead leg to keep
the same step pattern
11It allows you to see the skill so you can copy

Another pupil
Volleyball
Jump serve
When I jumped to serve I had difficulty
timing the contact of the ball in front of my
body
I would immediately practice the skill/technique
so the picture is fresh in my mind
12Played above the head with right
arm and left foot in front
Played with two hands/arms and
knees bent
Jumps off two feet and plays the
ball overhead with right arm
Could serve harder and lower over the net
Could block jump higher with arms together
13Overload
Worked the body harder than normal
Progression
Increased frequency, intensity and duration
Specificity
Worked on exercises specific to the
demands of the actvity
14Interval training
Circuit training
Football
Interval training we ran round the pitch 5
times then walked round the pitch once. We
repeated this sequence 3 times.
This method could be adapted by increasing the
number of times we ran round the pitch before
resting
