Should Know
4The Accreditation World is Divided into Two
Distinct Camps
Institutional and Specialized
5What is Institutional Accreditation??
- It is a process that evaluates an entire
institution and accredits it as a whole. It is
comprehensive in reach and includes - Formal educational activities of an institution
- Governance and Administration
- Financial Stability
- Admission and student personnel services
- Institutional resources
- Student academic achievement

6Who does Institutional Accreditation??

7What is Specialized Accreditation??
It is accreditation that evaluates
particular units, schools, or programs within
an Institution and is generally associated with
professional associations, e.g. law, social work,
engineering, and medicine. The AOA is a
recognized special accreditation agency for
osteopathic medicine, however, its accreditation
status is separate from that of the institutional
accreditation agency.
