    also allows its users to save file in different
    formats used for online applications such as

2. Open Source Software

  • The following definition is taken from the Open

  • "Open source is a development method for software
    that harnesses the power of distributed peer
    review and transparency of process. The promise
    of open source is better quality, higher
    reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an
    end to predatory vendor lock-in."
  • In other words, open source programs are created
    by software developers, often volunteers, who
    support the open source concept and are
    interested in using the software they create
    themselves. Open source developers believe that
    by allowing anyone who's interested in modifying
    the source code, the application will be more
    useful and error-free over the long term.
