  • 150m span over Cornwallis River
  • 30m right-of-way owned by D.O.T.

    Bishop-Beckwith Marsh Body

  • KPS presents the optimal design with cost
    projections (CBCL report)
  • Municipality partners with province to build a
    multi-use trail on the existing DOT property
  • KPS raises capital for construction
  • Municipality maintains the trail

Financing Structure
  • ACOA Innovative Communities Fund (up to 70)
  • HRSDC (formerly HRDC) supports up to 20
  • Municipality and Private Donations would
    contribute 10
  • Structure allows for ongoing trail development
    in subsequent years.

Return on Investment
  • Quebec showed 1.511 on trail investment.
  • Assuming only 10 of investment costs, Kings
    could have a 151 return

Logistics
  • All roadside construction can be done without
    interrupting road traffic
  • Cooperation of Marsh Body and landowners is
    important
  • Ultimate roadside design will take advantage of
    existing contours to minimize cost
