• May 4, 1970
• The Kent State shootings occurred at Kent State
  University in Ohio.
• Student protesters were shot by the Ohio National
  Guard
• Four students were killed and nine others wounded

The Cold War

• The Cold War was not really a war.
• No fighting occurred
• Its a term for the stand-off between Russia and
  the United States from 1945 until 1989.
• Both the U.S. and Russia wanted to control
  countries like Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea,
  Venezuela
