Title: Discrimination Issues

2As president of your company, you walk into the
office of the sales manager to congratulate him
on setting a new record. When you enter the
office, the sales manager is standing very close
to his secretary, who looks upset and flustered.
- What would most company presidents do?
- What would you do?
3You enter an elevator with another
middle-management-level executive of the same
sex. That person stares at the body of the other
occupant of the elevator (a lower-level employee
of the opposite sex) for a few seconds, mutters a
suggestive remark, and then winks at you. You
see that the employee has noticed the attention.

- What would you do?
4An assistant vice president (AVP) is one of the
most promising executives in your company. He
complains to you, the division manager, that his
boss has been making unwelcome and persistent
sexual advances. You have a private conversation
with his boss, who insists that the AVP has
mistaken her innocent remarks and gestures.

5You are the manager of your corporation's
accounting department. One day, as you walk
through the office, you hear John, Sandy, Andrew,
and Roberta, four of your subordinates, making
plans for an office-wide luncheon to celebrate
Thanksgiving. As you are interested in office
morale boosters, you stop for a moment to
participate in the discussion. John suggests
that each person contribute a nominal amount
toward food and drink. Sandy giggles, Wed
better charge Donna double. Shes so huge she
probably eats twice as much as everyone else.
Andrew adds, I guess we have to invite her, but
I really dont want to have to watch her eat.
Besides, she could break a chair. Roberta
chimes in, Yes, John was very disappointed when
Donna started working here. He cant wait to see
what the next hire looks like. There is general
laughter all around. Donna, a competent
accountant, is a large woman (52, 190 lbs) who
wears tent-like dresses decorated with bright
colors and large flowers.
