3- The Fellowships aim to
- educate scientists and engineers on the
intricacies of federal policymaking - foster positive exchange between scientists and
policymakers - empower scientists and engineers to conduct
policy-relevant research that addresses
challenges facing society and - increase the involvement and visibility of
scientists and engineers in the public policy
realm.
4- Criteria
- AAAS solicits candidates from a broad
range of backgrounds and disciplines with as much
geographic representation across the United
States as possible. Selected Fellows must - be exemplary doctoral-level scientists in any
physical, biological, medical or social science,
any field of engineering or any relevant
interdisciplinary field, with solid credentials
and references (individuals with a masters
degree in engineering, and at least three years
of post-degree professional experience also may
apply) - hold U.S. citizenship
- show a commitment to apply their expertise in the
policy realm to serve society - possess potential to be effective leaders and
communicators of science to decision-makers and
non-scientific audiences and - demonstrate integrity, good judgment, and
outstanding problem-solving abilities.
