- Why? To foster a sense of belonging, enhance
school climate, strengthen student-teacher
relationships, decrease discipline problems
increase academic achievement. - When? Tuesdays Thursdays, 1254-119pm
- Who? Every student is a member of a small group
of grade level peers.

14First Day Jitters
- What supplies do I need?
- Supplies are determined by grade.
- Supply lists will be posted on the website and
sent home in the summer mailing. - How do I get my picture identification card?
- Student ID cards will be distributed after
pictures in September. - All students must wear their ID on a daily basis.
- Students can also see the librarian to purchase a
student id.

- How do I open my locker?
- Students practice during Bagels and Locks.
- Teachers are available to help.
- Students lockers are located next to their
homeroom. - What if I forget my locker combination?
- Students should see their teacher, Mr. Blender,
or an administrator to help them with their
combination. - Students should never share their combination.
- Students will be held responsible for its
contents.

- What type of clothing do I need for physical
education? - Students need shorts, a t-shirt and sneakers.
- Students change before and after class.
- Students receive a shared locker for physical
education class. - Only non-aerosol deodorants are allowed.

- What bus do I take home?
- Students will be directed to the correct bus.
- Buses are numbered according to slots in the
bus parking lot. They are always in the same
place everyday. - Teachers and administrators are available to help
students. - Where do I sit for lunch?
- Students are allowed to select their seat, up to
eight students per table. Students are able to
change tables. - Students will be informed of the rules for the
cafeteria by the teachers in charge. - Teachers and aides will supervise lunch.

- Where do I go for my classes? Will I get lost?
- Students are provided with a map of the school.
- Students will tour the school during orientation.
- Faculty members will assist students on the first
days of school. - Can I buy lunch or bring?
- Students can do either.
- Menus are posted on the website and distributed
monthly.

- Can I bring my backpack to class?
- Students are not allow to bring their backpack to
their classes. - Students are allowed four locker changes per day.
- Students carry only the materials needed for the
classes between locker changes. - Helpful hint Backpacks with wheels do not fit
in lockers.

- How do I log onto the computers at school?
- Before passwords are given to students, all
students and parents/guardians must sign the
Acceptable Use Policy located in the agenda
book. - A user id and password will be given to each
student by their computer teacher or classroom
teacher. - Students are held responsible for all computer
activity done under their password. - Students can also see the librarian to get a
computer id and password.

22Code of Conduct
- Our school reinforces the important community
values of honesty, respect, responsibility, trust
and tolerance. - Our approach to discipline involves a point
system that ensures a balance of consequences and
incentives. - All students begin the year with the 30 points.
- Students who are caught being good earn
positive points. - Students who earn a high number of points are
recognized in a Good Citizenship Breakfast. - Students who display inappropriate behavior may
lose points or earn a consequence. - Students who lose more than 15 are placed on the
Restricted List. - Students earn points back by not engaging in
appropriate behavior for ten consecutive days.

- Report cards issued four times a year
- All students receive a progress reports midway
through each marking period. Previously, only
students who earned a D or F or who had dropped 2
letter grades received one. - High Honor Roll

25Parent Meetings
- Team meetings are held on alternating days.
- Parents may attend team meetings by appointment.
- Conferences are held in the fall.
- Back to School Night is held in October.
- MOPTA meets monthly.

- The PTA sponsors cultural art, student activities
and teacher grants that benefit students. - Please join!
27Transitional Meetings
- 5th Grade Parent Orientation (February)
- 6th grade students host QA sessions in each 5th
grade class in the district. (April) - Dr. Severns attends a meeting of each elementary
parent/teacher organization. - School-based visits to MOMS (May)
