3Key Accomplishments for the Sixth Quarter
2007-2008
- District Initiative SRI/DRA/Riverside Benchmark
regimen in elementary schools. - Data Driven Instruction (DDI) continued to be the
focus for the administration, teachers, support
staff, students and parents of NBS in the Sixth
Quarter. The spirit of DDI was captured in the
acronym, S.T.A.R.S. (Standardized Tests and
Reading Scores). A comprehensive S.T.A.R.S. plan
was developed using the concept of Plan Do Study
Act! - Specific components of the S.T.A.R.S. plan
included the following items - Each instructional teacher received a S.T.A.R.S.
binder to increase accessibility to student
achievement data. The binders were continually
updated during the sixth quarter. - Data Sets SRI, Pequannock Benchmarks, Term
marks, Standardized Tests, Curricular Program
Assessments, Correlation Reports and teacher
recommendations were used to develop individual,
classroom, grade level and school wide learning
objectives. - Grade Level S.T.A.R.S. Objectives developed from
2006-2007 NJ Ask Results (1) Picture, Poem and
passage prompts targeted improvement in Writing
Workshop and Ketchup Mustard Fridays and Drop
Everything and Write practice for grades 3-5. (2)
Analyzing Text Practice targeted improvement in
Readers Workshop Lexile reading /NJ Ask Testing
for grades 3-5. (3) Problem Solving Practice for
grades 3-5 targeted improvement in the
mathematics instruction block. - PAWS Writers Workshop Language Arts, What Good
Writers Do! skill development in the writing
instruction block. NB teachers followed the PAWS
Writing Curriculum Timelines to ensure consistent
instruction and student skill development. - Drop Everything and Write Grade level timed
writing prompts were scored holistically,
analyzed and shared with parents. - Spicy Word Practice Ownership of 7, 8 and 9
words based on grade level continued in the sixth
quarter. - Question of the Day Specific daily practice
questions in mathematics from the CCCS were used
to keep pace with skills found on the NJ ASK 3-5. - Open Ended Mathematics Practice Targeted
practice in answering open ended mathematics
questions using NJ DOE scored released samples
and the NJ Open Ended Rubric.
4Key Learning for the Sixth Quarter 2007-2008
- District Initiative SRI/DRA/Riverside Benchmark
regimen in the elementary schools. - Overall SRI Results from the sixth quarter
administration were compared to the second
quarter and fifth quarter administrations. The
Q2 to Q6 comparison showed the AP rate was flat
remaining at 18, the Proficiency rate was down
-16, the Basic rate was flat, remaining at 14
and the Below Basic rate increased significantly
(175), up from 3 of the total to 7. - The Q5 to Q6 comparison showed a significant
improvement in the AP rate of from 12 to 17, a
47 increase with 53 students AP overall. The P
rate decreased -8. The Basic rate increased 8
and the Below Basic rate decreased significantly
(-35), 34 students to 22.

- A. Activities
- I will engage in the following activities and
detail how each activity enhanced the achievement
of my goal. - I will work with the North Boulevard School
community, teachers, staff and students to
implement the Six Pillars of Character
Curriculum, establish Hallways of Character,
maximize effectiveness the Professional Learning
Community around the team concept and develop a
comprehensive computer based student
services/management system. - B. Evidence
- I will document my progress in enhancing my
skills and knowledge, dispositions and
performance with the following artifacts and/or
outcomes - Conduct staff/community development for the Six
Pillars of Character Curriculum. - Establish performance goals, monitoring and a
community reporting system to ensure an effective
implementation of the curriculum. - Establish a partnership with the community to
design, get BOE approval, acquire funding for
materials and install Hallways of Character. - Conduct staff development on the PLC/team concept
and establish performance goals and a TQM
management system. - Work with the district initiative to implement a
comprehensive computer based student
services/management system.
