SPECIAL NOTE TO ADVISERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
  • Competitive Events are excellent motivating
devices instill the desire to learn and to
    achieve.
  • To be the best generally requires innate ability,
high motivation, and many hours of hard work.
  • Travel and interaction with students from others
    schools are tremendous learning opportunities.

17
SPECIAL NOTE TO ADVISERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
  • Competitive events can be helpful in building
school spirit and in publicizing a business
    program.
  • Excessive class time should not be spent on areas
covered in competitive events at the expense of
other subject matter that should be taught.
  • A teachers competence or effectiveness should
not be judged by the number of winners.
  • Likewise, the success of a local chapter should
not be determined strictly by the performance of
    its members in competitive events.

18
KEY CTSO MEMBERSHIP THOUGHTS
  • Recruit to involve
  • Understand their needs, interests, and plug them
into the opportunity that fits them
  • Do not overlook recruitment from all courses
  • Recruit diverse students
  • Deposit before you withdraw
  • Get them engaged first in a benefit, cool
experience, or something funthen ask them to do
fundraisers, work in student store, etc.
  • Recognize them early and often
  • Recognize them at meetings, chapter newsletter,
    websites, state and national publications
