3Our mission
The YWCA is a womens membership movement
nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and
sustained by the richness of many beliefs and
values strengthened by diversity, the Association
draws together members who strive to create
opportunities for womens growth, leadership and
power to attain a common vision peace, justice,
freedom and dignity for all people
4Hawley House
- Located in Historic West Salem, the Hawley House
is a 9 month residential facility that provides a
structured program which includes a 12-Step
recovery plan, counseling, employment assistance,
literacy classes and NA and AA meetings. At the
Hawley House women get their lives back on track
by recovering from the disease of addiction. They
find an environment that fosters responsibility,
respect for self and others and a supportive
staff.
5Empowerment of Women
- Supportive Services ensures the delivery of
effective services to those with the greatest
needs, especially women seeking a positive
lifestyle change. Programs of Supportive Services
of Women teach women to better manage their lives
by providing life and social skills training that
lead to employment, increased literacy, economic
enhancement and long term self sufficiency.
6Project New Start
- Project New Start offers support to female
ex-offenders and families affected by
incarceration. Following release in small groups
we provide a safe environment for candid
discussion and support. Participants also
experience fellowship with women and families in
similar situations.
7Jail Ministry
- Our jail ministry assist women currently residing
in the Forsyth County Jail. Inmates are offered
opportunities for spiritual development, prayer
request and other assistance as requested or
allowed.
8How can you help?
- Make a financial contribution to the Supportive
Service Program - Teach Bible Study at the YWCA on Thursdays at
noon for one hour. - Be a speaker at our Thursday night small group
sessions. - Provide the meal for Thursday night fellowship.
- Provide an outing for the women at the Hawley
House. - Join us for dinner any night Monday through
Friday at 600PM. - Coordinate an activity for Thursday Night group
session. - Host the women at the Hawley House at your
church. - Sponsor a child or family at Christmas.
- Be a sponsor for a women in recovery.
- Participate in our Chili Luncheon fund raiser..
- Donate funds for a special care package for a
