When and how my family came to Canada

• My family came to Canada from Portugal
• They came about 50 years ago that was when the
  Portuguese started to come to Canada
• My mom,dad and grandmother came
• My family came to Canada by airplane
• They came in the year 1960
• After in the year 1989 I was born
• My family has been in Canada ever since

• Most Portuguese families came in 1960
• Portuguese families are large
• Most fishermen had a family
• Portuguese families usually had 3 or 5 kids
• Usually the children had to work
• At the age 11 children would start
• They had to go olive picking
• Most kids went to school
• They had very strict teachers

Why Portuguese came to Canada

• Portuguese came to Canada because of the
  following reasons
• 1. Portugal was running out of work
• 2.Portuguese wanted a better life
• 3. Portuguese wanted to bring up their
  children in Canada
• 4.Portuguese worked as fishermen,in
  the army, on trains, in construction.

• In 1950-1955 large amounts of people came from
  Portugal
• They settled in cities with good pay and work
• They settled in Toronto
• By 1960 Toronto, Cambridge and Montreal had the
  most Portuguese immigrants

• Portuguese usually worked as fishermen
• The fishermen had little wooden boats
• Portuguese would fish for many hours
• Most fishermen came in 1960
• Most fishermen had a family
